Project Overview: 
As a user-experience writer (UX Writer), you'll shape product experiences by creating useful, meaningful text that helps users complete the task at hand. You must be a stellar writer. You have a portfolio of work that demonstrates content that simplifies and beautifies the overall experience. You'll work with designers, researchers, product managers, engineers, marketing, and customer operations to establish cohesive language and a unified voice across products and platforms. You'll use empathy, reason, and data to inform content choices. You'll pursue a deep understanding of your products. You'll provide content recommendations that include the right words and, sometimes, complementary data and images. 

Overall Responsibilities: 
  • Establish language recommendations. Document standards in messaging frameworks and style guides. 
  • Develop concepts for early-stage products. Provide data-informed insights to improve existing experiences. 

Top 3 daily responsibilities: 
  1. Write clear, concise user-interface text (UI text) for products. Act as a subject-matter expert for user-experience writing.  
  2. Collaborate with designers, researchers, prototypers, product managers, and engineers to define requirements.  
  3. Manage projects and stakeholders.  

Required Skills: 
  • Bachelor's degree in English or a writing-related field, or equivalent experience 
  • 3-5 years experience developing content strategy and systems for text, photos, and feeds/tools; mastery of basic and advanced design processes, including style guidelines 
  • Experience defining project schedules, scoping work, and managing stakeholders 
  • Experience in online writing, editing, and content strategy, and strong familiarity with content management/publishing tools 
  • Ability to perform at a high level with minimal guidance; to devise and implement improvements to best practices, tools, and processes team-wide; and to make decisions based on credible metrics and communicate according to well-reasoned analysis 

Nice to have: 
  • Experience working closely with UX, product, legal, and marketing partners 
  • Experience working in agile product development environment; ability to adapt quickly and establish solutions independently 
  • Experience writing for a digital site or technology brand; expertise designing content for software and speech-based applications 
  • Strong curiosity about users, and how to anticipate their needs by understanding their behavior and motivations
