Analytics Manager (Data Management)

Job Description:
  • Primary responsibilities consist of analyzing the business impact on care costs ranging from medical action plans, product development, program evaluation, population management, and general sales proof points/ROI for public sector business unit.
  • Responsible for the measurement, presentation, and communication of care cost results for entire medical spend through the development and maintenance of appropriate reporting tools and infrastructure.
  • Apply sound financial/analytic skills to perform care cost analyses to promote information-based decision-making in support of key business objectives.
Essential Functions:
  • Oversee the organization and reporting of medical care cost results. This includes the design and development of reporting tools to efficiently measure, monitor, and communicate care results, and support the identification of care cost risks and opportunities.
  • Provide behavioral health care cost analytic capacity in support of strategic business unit objectives. Apply sound, quantitative, problem-solving analytics to address and/or resolve relevant care cost issues as needed. Proactively identify and communicate key results. Manage analytic workflow interface with the strategic business unit.
  • Support the development of new products, new models of care, and population cohort management, i.e. Medicaid expansion. Develop ROI models to show value of new programs and models of care. Provide expertise and support on proper aggregation and normalization of Medicaid medical and pharmacy datasets.
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships within the organization including actuarial, underwriting, clinical operations, and healthcare informatics, in addition to the Client strategic business unit.
Requirements/Certifications:
Flexibility in working from home 2-3 days per week is available, after training period.
 
  • The job requires a lot of querying, modifying and analyzing SQL data.  Approximate 60% of the job will require the person to utilize the software SQL Server Enterprise Manager.
  • They will be downloading data
  • Perform fairly complex linking of claim data to multiple sources such as provider, eligibility files and other mappings.
  • There’s a lot of summarization, date manipulation, text manipulation, adding fields, and converting formats.
  • Creating and maintaining a repeatable, hierarchal process of accounting for all elements of a data set.
  • They will also need to have Excel expertise. any reports and projects we do require the “heavy” data manipulation to be done in SQL and then dump data from SQL into Excel.
  • Some of the advanced functions of excel also require date and text manipulation
  • The person needs to know and feel very comfortable with functions such as SUMIFs, CountIFs, VLOOKUPs
  • We perform complicated data reconciliations and analysis between various sources of data.
  • The reconciliations and backgrounds with healthcare finance is a huge plus.
  • The ability to recognize what needs to tie out and why certain things need to be done is very valuable.
  • Simple recons like claims paid need to equal a check register are needed.  But there’s also things like reconciling back something the State sends to our internal data which can be very complicated and require detailed knowledge of the data and is not black and white.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
