System Administrator

Location: Pleasanton, California
 This role will be primarily responsible for administering and managing the software tools used in Portfolio Planning and Analysis activities for the Project Management Office.  A portion of the role will be to work with internal and external IT to identify and implement improvements in portfolio dashboards and reports that are critical for the annual planning process, monthly reporting, and ongoing forecasting and analysis.  
  • Tracks enhancement needs or issues with the portfolio management software systems
  • Adds users to the systems and controls access permissions and privileges
  • Monitors system performance and responds to queries from system users
  • Tests new/existing versions and/or enhancements made with for all software in the system landscape
  • Writes documentation, including data standards, procedure manuals, test cases and validation reports
  • Works closely with IT project managers, database programmers, global project managers, LCT members, CCOs and other users of the software systems
  • Communicates regularly with technical, applications and project management staff to ensure database integrity and security
  • customization or replacement of existing applications to better meet user needs
  • Manage capacity workbook on portfolio resource demand vs. resource capacity
  • Publishes portfolio progress reports or dashboards and creates presentations

  • Experience working with MS Project Server or Planisware (configuration or administration experience desirable)
  • Expert knowledge in the use/administration of SharePoint 2010 sites, especially with regard to Project Server integration
  • Expert in Microsoft Excel, and Excel VBA Programming Macros
  • Proficient with MS Windows, MS Office, and MS Visio
  • General working knowledge of SAP
  • General project management process understanding
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems with Project Portfolio Management Tools
  • Strong analytical skills required, including an understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group
  • Excellent time management and organization skills; ability to multi-task in a fast paced, large environment setting
  • Ability to quickly grasp business/project management processes.  Ability to translate process into a technical solution.
  • Able to work independently as well as work in a team environment
  • Help desk experience desirable.
