A decades old Digital media company based in Atlanta is currently seeking a Senior Manager of Linux Systems Engineering for their corporate infrastructure team.  This role directs and leads new and ongoing mission-critical enterprise system and application projects in a complex and collaborative environment.  Responsible for the operational availability and reliability of existing systems and for ensuring new systems and environments are reliable and available.
Essential functions will include:
  • Provide architectural and implementation best practices for the company's Linux platforms to ensure maximum performance, reliability and security for its enterprise applications and sites.
  • Manage a team of 7-9 Linux System Administrators in a 24x7 environment to maintain day-to-day datacenter operations.
  • Linux Operating Systems design, implementation, configuration and maintenance, in addition to staging releases.
  • Negotiate contracts, recommend cost saving changes, manage department and project budgets.
  • Interface between Infrastructure and Development / Devops teams to maintain stability and consistency in what is deployed to the datacenters and how it is deployed.
  • Deliver monthly reports and updates to executives and stakeholders.  
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining change management practices and processes.
  • Manage the lifecycle of critical infrastructure; Advise when to invest in further in existing systems and when to move on to next generation solutions.
  • Responsible for the on-time, on-budget delivery of successful technology implementations. 
  • Oversee IT architecture implementation plan; set and control scopes; develop work plans, manage deadlines and coordinate project team activities. 
  • Minimum 5 years management experience in a technical role and 3 years of experience within a DevOps discipline
  • Subject matter expert with Linux (Scientific or Redhat highly preferred)
  • Virtualization experience with Linux systems on internal or external Cloud environments
  • Experience with advanced storage technologies and SAN architecture Technologies including familiarity with advanced troubleshooting.
  • Excellent project management skills with demonstrated track record of managing complex information technology projects on time and within budget.
  • Experience with business continuity, disaster/recovery planning, storage and backup and restore techniques and tools.
  • Strong people management and leadership skills.
  • Ability to perform cost benefit analysis and complete executive level business cases for infrastructure project proposals.
