Job Description
 
This individual shall have Senior Database Administrator responsibilities of overseeing the design, development and support of enterprise class database systems. The individual will work on the development of standards, methodologies, and guidelines pertaining to database administration including, but not limited to, database design, data management, data governance, configuration management, deployment procedures, data integrity, capacity planning, and security.  Other primary responsibilities of the position includes
  • Design conceptual and logical models representing database solutions to be incorporated into Technical Design.
  • Work collaboratively with architecture teams to develop high-level and detailed application design and data models
  • Support Oracle database environment
  • Design and develop data conversion and initial load scripts to populate new or modified tables in accordance with conversion and migration plans.
  • Develop data models using standards and guidelines
  • Contribute to the evolving distributed systems architecture to meet changing requirements for scaling, reliability, performance, manageability, and cost
  • Research and recommend innovative, and where possible, automated approaches for administration tasks. Identify approaches to efficiencies in resource utilization, provide economies of scale, and simplify support issues.
  • Create or modify data views as needed for testing and implementation.                                                    
  • Keep abreast of new technologies and products to support NYPA strategic initiatives.
  • Responsible for preparing documentation and coordinating in support of the change control process and internal governance meetings throughout the project life cycle
  • Install and configure systems specific to their software infrastructure.
  • Architect and develop various application design patterns and prepare technical design documents and wireframe.Provide strategic, forward-thinking ideas to help define technical architecture and vision for applications development.
     
    Required Skills
  • Experience in design, development and maintenance of enterprise applications
  • Extensive experience in Oracle SQL & PL/SQL,
  • Expertise in Oracle database architecture.
  • Experience in Oracle Database Restore, Recovery and Migration
  • Implementation experience in Oracle failover technology
  • Hadoop development and implementation will be a plus
  • Managing and deploying HBase.
  • Work collaboratively with other application teams
  • Ability to multi task and good time management skills
  • Excellent testing/ QA skills
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) to liaise with various teams in the organization.
  • Must have exceptional team attitude and the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, team oriented, agile environment
  • Ability to orchestrate meeting with leads and upper management and guide/mentor staff.
  • Identify and implement team operational efficiencies by automation & process improvements opportunities and / or implementing new technologies 
    Required Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, IT, or related field.
  • Minimum 6 years of quality experience
  • 5+ years of experience in Oracle Database administration
  • Oracle Certified Professional DBA in Oracle Database 11g or 12c.
  • 4+ years of experience in UNIX/Linux system administration
  • Strong understanding of Software development methodologies, Design Patterns, Application Security, database
  • Experience with large-scale high-performance distributed systems like Hadoop, NoSQL or Spark is a plus
  • Excellent debugging and optimization skills
  • Person must be able to travel for meetings and project coordination.
