This Disaster Recovery Engineer is an instrumental role on the IT Continuity and Recovery Services Team. This role will support the broader IT division's disaster recovery and resilience planning, testing, evidencing and gap mitigation activities. The role will provide senior level technical support for business continuity and disaster recovery planning.
Leads, develops, implements, and maintains processes to ensure continual operations in the event of disasters or interruptions.
In this role you will:
- Lead, develop, implement, and maintain processes to ensure continual operations in the event of disasters or interruptions.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures for business continuance and disaster recovery plans. Analyze business security requirements and maintains disaster recovery plans.
- Plan, configure, and deploy disaster recovery technologies and systems. Coordinate activities and responds to test requirements and client needs during testing.
- Support, document, and evaluate the effectiveness of disaster recovery tests and simulations. Ensure that the disaster recovery activities adhere to industry-standards.
- Perform risk analysis to identify system vulnerabilities, recommending disaster avoidance and reduction strategies.
- Participate in the evaluation and selection of disaster recovery tools, equipment, and alternate recovery sites. Consult on assessments of disaster recovery requirements for new and enhanced products, networks, and services.
- Participate in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
What it takes:
- Minimum of five years related work experience, with at least two years of business continuity, disaster recovery or production support experience.
- Undergraduate degree in a related field or the equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP) Certification or progress towards this certification is preferred.
