Professional experience
  • Proven experience supporting major or critical applications ideally with Investment Banking background.
  • Have a strong working knowledge of various infrastructure components and the processes required to maintain the infrastructure.
  • Have a good understanding of the business areas and application / service components used and an appreciation of applications from both a technical and business perspective.
  • Understanding of Change Management and Incident Management processes and procedures. 
  • Adherence to bank standards for change control, database security, database patterns, database builds and migrations.
  • Ad hoc oracle database consulting to application teams.
  • Experience in leading and mentoring diagnosis and resolution of technical issues.
  • Experience of working in a highly regulated environment and the associated processes and tools
  • Resolves critical incidents and problems and fluently applies escalation and notification procedures to leadership.
  • Experienced with owning change planning, communication and approvals for significant changes / upgrades
  • Collaborates and communicates well with partner teams – application run and build, service management, incident management, server and storage.
 
 Technical skills
(Oracle DBA)
  • Excellent Oracle DBA technical skills – Oracle versions 11g R2, 12cR1, 19c .
  • SME level experience with Oracle.
  • Deployment and Administration of Oracle Clusterware, Oracle ASM, Oracle RAC
  • Oracle Database builds/upgrades/migrations
  • Advanced Oracle Performance Tuning at various levels (including Large Scale OLTP and Datawarehouse systems).
  • Good knowledge of common Oracle Tools (DataPump, SQL*Loader, SQL*Plus, DBCA).
  • Deployment and administration of Oracle Dataguard. Practical skills with DG Broker and Fast Start Failover is an advantage.
  • Advanced Oracle SQL*Net  configurations.
  • Ability to apply Oracle patches (interim patches, release updates)
  • Oracle Advanced Security Options – Oracle Wallet, Secure External Password Store
  • Excellent Oracle RMAN backup and recovery skills.
  • Proficient in Oracle high availability concepts.
  • Good knowledge of working in Linux OS (RHEL). OS monitoring and basic Linux administration is an advantage.
