We are looking for an individual who can lead the upgrade of all Splunk components in an Enterprise configuration. We are looking to upgrade from 7.X to 8.X for Splunk Core, ES, ITSI, DBX, all UFs, and all supporting addons/apps. Candidate is to be familiar with complex Splunk architectures and be able to quickly understand our implementation. Role to help lead and implement a multi-site, multi-region, hybrid Splunk upgrade spanning different technology stacks. Will need the ability to determine all addons/apps involved, their priority, and upgrade schedule. Person should be able to manually upgrade all the components and develop automation to assist when possible. As the upgrade to 8.X requires all processes utilize python 3 instead of legacy python 2, a firm understanding of both python versions is needed. It may be required to uplift custom built addons to the latest version of python in order to successfully upgrade.
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent discipline
Strong experience with Splunk at an Enterprise level architecting and implementing solutions including using DR, multi-site clusters, and both indexer and search head clustering, and SmartStore
Strong experience in supporting Splunk Enterprise Security and IT Service Intelligence.
In depth experience designing and maintaining a Splunk environment that is: secure, resilient, scalable, transformative
Have enterprise experience in upgrading Splunk Core, UFs, ES, ITSI, and all supporting addons
Experience delivering automation solutions using Ansible, Chef, Puppet, or similar automation tools.
Experience using DevOps workflows for a Tools team.
AWS, CI/CD, GIT, Jenkins, DevOps Process (GI, Jenkins, Terraform, Cloud Formation, AWS resources).
Experience working with AWS particularly as Infrastructure as Code in the form of CFTs.
Strong experience of Linux with scripting knowledge.
Has coding experience in python 2, python 3, java, and other relevant coding languages.
Solid experience in emerging and cutting-edge technologies such as: Scala/Java/Python, REST, JSON, Jenkins/Maven, Ansible and AWS/Cloud Infrastructure to name a few.
