Specific Responsibilities include the following:
  • Evaluate and create drawings with tolerance and specifications per customer requirements
  • Develops customer quotes and validates accuracy when awarded
  • Identifies and orders tools required for manufacturing
  • Developing strong supplier & customer relationships
  • Work with vendors utilizing developed sourcing strategies
  • Any additional responsibilities supervisor requests
     
Key Competencies, Knowledge and Skills:
 
Organization: ability to prioritize and organize tasks as required
Capable of balancing the needs of the customer and sales reps with the profit needs of the company.
Experience in ISO9001:2008 and/or TS16949
Project and Program Management: ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
Ability to read, interpret and create drawing math data.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Problem analysis and resolution skills
Preferred experience interacting with ERP solutions
Ability to read and interpret drawings
Computer proficiency – strong Excel, Word, PP and Outlook skills
 
Other Requirements:
  • 3 years of Cost Estimating experience required
  • 3 years of experience in automotive/manufacturing industry, preferred
  • Bachelors degree preferred
     
Duties Description:
Cost Estimating
1.Apply lessons learned to develop the most cost competitive manufacturing process and materials solution for customer quotes.
2.Complete costing to include tooling, material, scrap, MOQ, labor and overhead
3.Develop specifications and scope to be utilized in outside vendor quote requests and obtain vendor quotes.
4.Maintain relevant and accurate records on cost card revisions
5.Utilize a cross-functional team as required to create optimal build specifications considering material, print, nesting, layout routing and shipping. (Engineering, Purchasing, Suppliers, Production, Quality, etc...
6.Actively support the Purchasing process to ensure market competitive sourcing.
7.Update and / or revise cost models to improve cost model accuracy.
8.Provide visibility into quoting activity & status and create prints as required
 
Tooling
1.Provide tooling documentation including layout, part specific instructions and nesting to tool manufacturer
2.Insures tool delivery deadlines are met and updates white board on tooling status (Order and Receive date)
3.Inspect and verify all finished tooling prior to release to production
4.Obsolete, dispose and assign tool's and mylar's as required
5.Manage physical storage locations of all obsolete, active and service tools and mylars
 
Cost Estimating Non-Standard
1.Provide accurate, tooling, material & labor costing for non-standard product quotes
2.Communicate status (current and future) on all open non-standard quote requests

Measures of Performance:
  • Define, implement & maintain key cost estimating metrics (Quote Log, Quote Accuracy, Avg. Turn around time, etc...)
  • Develop and implement cost model improvement objectives focused on improving defined metrics
  • Tooling ordered and delivered on time
  • Provide accurate and timely quotes
  • Demonstration of behaviors and values of Company
