Sr. Mechanical Engineer

Location: Sterling Heights, Michigan
A Structure and Survivability Design Engineer is needed to assist in the design and development of ground combat vehicle structures, armor and spall liner. Specific work will include:
  • Design of weld joints for steel and aluminum structures
  • Develop engineering design concepts via CAD software
  • Assist lead engineers on the design of structures, appendages, armor and spall liner for various military vehicle platforms
  • Work with design services (drafting) to create detailed drawings
  • Provide technical support to other engineering organizations
  • Address manufacturing, procurement and field problem reports
  • Present design concepts and program status to functional and program management
 
SKILLS:
  • Required B.S. in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 6 years of applicable experience, fewer years will be required with an advanced degree.
  • Self starter, highly motivated individual
  • Basic knowledge of welding and metal fab desired
  • Basic knowledge of model and drawing creation required
  • Basic knowledge of GD&T desired
  • Experience using Pro/e, Unigraphics or other 3-D CAD software required
  • Knowledge of ballistic threats and basic principles of armor design desired
  • Must be Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Powerpoint)
  • Occasional travel may be necessary
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required
  • Must be a US citizen
