Change Management Consultant

Controls the movement of advanced application components from the development to the production environment using the scrumban agile methodology. Reviews/audits new application components to determine acceptability for inclusion into production. Manages and controls application oriented vendor software updates. May oversee the installation of new and/or updated systems software. Seen as an expert and may provide advise to others related to trouble shooting technical change control problems and recommends solutions to prevent re-occurrence. Maintains, controls, monitors, and protects the integrity of application code utilizing tools such as TFS. May act as a Project Leader. Projects are large in scope, typically cross-functional and technically difficult, often involving combinations of platforms and computing environments and technologies.

Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the overall operational effectiveness and quality of the Investment Delivery Services (IDS) Release Management process.
  • Ensures that the Release Management process is in alignment with the organizational and IT divisional goals that it supports.
  • Overall champion and evangelist for the promotion of the agile release management process and practices throughout the organization.
  • Responsible for continuous improvement of the release management process to increase effectiveness and organizational conformance.
  • Ensures that the release management process is appropriately linked to the systems development life cycle, with touch points ensuring seamless delivery of code and configuration work to higher environments.
  • Ensure that the required training is both available and utilized by the process team members.
  • Maintains and regularly promotes the Release Management process and procedures documentation.
  • Establishes and/or maintains metrics/reporting regarding release content and effectiveness.
  • Ensures alignment of the release process with the our client corporate release process.
  • Creates, publishes, communicates, and maintains, the release calendar.
  • Ensures that our client developed, as well as vendor released software changes are included and managed as release candidates.
  • Contributes to and participates in environment and instance management strategy and expansion activity to ensure the release management process adapts to changing environment landscapes.
  • Collaborates with project and support teams to ensure early identification of release candidates.
  • Responsible for release candidate tracking and status progression to maximize release manifest visibility.
  • Develops and maintains tools and processes to provide transparency into the release candidate manifest.
  • Ensures that release candidate functionality delivers appropriate artifacts that promote business awareness and production supportability, prior to production release.
  • Works collaboratively with project and testing teams to ensure and schedule release event support, including regression testing, troubleshooting and remediation activities.
  • Serves as facilitator to work with project teams to resolve release content issues, timing challenges, and related candidate inclusion challenges.
  • Raise program / project issues to program / project managers transparently and effectively using recommended approaches.

Required Skills:
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience in IT production support methods, tools, metrics, and technology
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience in the basic principles, processes, phases and roles of application development methodologies and System Development Life Cycles (SDLC).
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience in root cause analysis, decision-making, and problem solving
  • Demonstrable experience working collaboratively with others to achieve the company and department goals
  • Demonstrable experience influencing and motivating employees
  • Bachelor's Degree with an IT or Technology Related Major or a combination of related experience and/or education
  • 5 -7 years of experience in software release management, preferably in a leadership role.
