System Administrator

The System Administrator will administer the Windows operating system, server hardware and assigned applications. They will respond to trouble tickets and perform timely remediation on assigned applications and systems. They will focus on customer service and provide effective customer communications when researching and resolving problems. The Admin will build and deploy windows systems and software in accordance to defined process and procedures. They will deploy patches and updates and perform validation testing and conduct back out procedures as defined in the change control documents.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Administer and maintain Radian's server infrastructure with a specific focus on server hardware and the Windows operating
  • Administer assigned application such as anti-virus, network operating systems, name resolution, file and print systems, authentication, and email, deployment software in accordance with standards and procedures and best practices
  • Deploy patches, hot fixes and firmware to core operating systems, server hardware and assigned applications both manually and with automation tools
  • Build servers in accordance with build standards and project timelines
  • Maintain system documentation

Knowledge
  • Minimum 4 years of experience within the information technology field
  • Administer and monitoring skills for the Windows operating system architecture deployed on the X86 platforms
  • Basic troubleshooting skills to isolate issues around Active Directory, name resolution and network related problems
  • Administrative experience working with server virtualization technologies such as VmWare and Citrix implementations

Skills & Abilities:
  • Experience using DsView, ILO, or comparable console connection software.
  • Experience administering Client server hardware, including System Insight Manger, Smart Start, and firmware updates and ProLiant Support Pack updates.
  • Individual must demonstrate a high degree of enthusiasm, commitment and desire to function as a team player. 
  • A professional attitude and good customer skills are essential to success in this position
  • Action oriented, self-motivated and capable of handling multiple responsibilities will be descriptors of the person filling this role.
  •  Excellent listening and verbal skills are required.
  • Periodic 24/7 On-Call availability required as well as carrying a pager and or cell phone. Able to work numerous after hours to support schedule work.

Prior Work Experience
  • 3 - 5 years of related work experience
  • Associates/Technical Degree required.
  • MCSA 2003 certification or equivalent.
