VMware SDDC Support Lead

  • Provide operational support for the SDDC (Software Defined Data Center)/VMware & Client Synergy/c7000 blade infrastructure.
  • Administer (monitor, support, prevent, maintain, fix, improve) the virtual and physical SDDC/VMware & Client Synergy/c7000 blade infrastructure.
  • Deal with incidents, service requests and problems according to ITIL methodology
  • 10+ years experience in supporting VMware technologies (VMware vSphere vCenter, ESXi, VMware Cloud Foundation (vCF), vSAN, NSX, SRM, vROPs, vRA, vRO, vRB, vLI, AutoDeploy, vUM).
  • 5+ years experience with Client server hardware (Client Blades/c7000 enclosures, Client Synergy, Client OneView).
  • Experience in VMware Horizon View (VDI) technologies advantageous.
  • HDS VSP/HNAS knowledge, including replication technologies (TrueCopy/HUR), Dell/EMC SAN, Pure storage technologies.
  • Backup of virtual environments using Symantec Netbackup.
  • Ability to investigate and troubleshoot complex issues.
  • Capability to determine and highlight risks (migration risks, design risks etc.) to Management.
  • Scripting skills (PowerCLI, Jenkins, Ansible) of advantage.
  • Operating System knowledge (Windows Server, RedHat Linux) desirable.
  • Translates business requirements into technical requirements and network capacity needs by sourcing data and undertaking appropriate analyses.
  • Makes technical design and amendment decisions with limited supervision.
  • Ensures relevant reporting documentation is completed and complies with internal and external standards.
  • Schedules and coordinates capacity/network upgrades, liaising with other areas of the business.
  • Understands and manages the risk of working in an existing Production environment.
  • Ability to work under operational pressure with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • The role may require some on call and off hours/weekend work.
