Accounting Operations Manager

Vector's client is a renowned organization that assists the disabled population with employment opportunities. They seek an Accounting Operations Manager who will oversee process improvement and management, department quality control, change management, and regulatory policies.

The Accounting Manager will support the integrity of the business processes and internal control of the accounting department consistent with the corporate mission, goals and objectives. The Accounting Operations Manager ensures that appropriate documentation is maintained to support the integrity of the general ledger and other accounting information using analytical skills and advanced technical skills to work through complexities. Researches accounting issues for compliance by establishing quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.The Accounting Operations Manager is expected to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines while ensuring efficient, effective and seamless operations within the Accounting department. This position is expected to exercise sound business judgment with a high degree of business expertise and fiscal integrity.

Within Finance and Administration, the Accounting Operations Manager interfaces regularly with the Accounting Director, Financial Analyst, Benefits Administrator, Information Technology Director, and Payroll Administrator. This individual routinely interfaces with other departmental administrators, directors and managers.


Functions listed in this section are primary duties and are fundamentals to why the position exists.
  1. Assist in timely review, analysis and reporting of all monthly financial information.
  2. Assist the Director of Accounting and ensuring accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close.
  3. Assist in managing the annual audit Provide support of annual auditor requirements, which may include research and reconciliations.
  4. Assist in establishing, preparing and submitting financial reports to Departmental Managers, Vice Presidents, CFO, CEO and the Board ensuring that reports are reviewed and analyzed for data quality.
  5. Assist the Accounting Director in developing standard operating procedures and continuously improves the accounting documentation requirements, including the creation and updating of Standard Operating Proceduress for all areas of accounting to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
  6. Ensure documentation of all business processes and procedures including accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger transactions are maintained in accordance with general business and legal requirements.
  7. Recommends the development and implementation of appropriate Accounting policies and procedures including documentation and training. Oversees the implementation of policies and procedures related to accounting practices of the company to:
    1. maximize internal controls; and,
    2. ensure financial reporting presents fairly in all material respects the financial position of Didlake in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
  8. Follow and strengthen accounting policies and procedures.
  9. Participate and support cross-training in all aspects/positions within the accounting department.
  10. Assist in review and [rolling out] all related software and accounting system along with related programs.
  11. Provides leadership to staff by fostering teamwork while balancing team and individual responsibilities; gives feedback to nurture a positive team spirit and quality performance and models dependability, hard work, strong business ethics including discretion and confidentiality and professionalism. Communicates with co-workers, management and external personnel in a courteous and professional manner.
  12. Fosters an atmosphere that promotes Human Rights for all consumers and ensures training, incident reporting and awareness of responsibilities of all personnel regarding Human Rights matters.
  13. Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  14. Accomplish accounting and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
  15. Maintain historical financial records of the agency.
  16. Provides sound financial information and support to finance and non-finance personnel, maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  17. Completes and maintains all Didlake required trainings.
Required Qualifications:

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance or related field
  • Considerable professional competence in accounting with at least five (5) years relevant work experience, with not-for-profit or Federal Government contracting. Retail Accounting experience is a plus.
  • Progressively responsible accounting management experience with at least two (2) years in a supervisory capacity and experience providing the knowledge, skills and abilities cited above.
Skills:
  • Thorough understanding and application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP); FAR , A122 and A133 are a plus
  • Thorough knowledge of office practices and procedures and advanced experience with the use of office machines, computers and programs including Microsoft Word and Excel. Experience with financial accounting, software, enterprise resource planning systems or cloud-computing solutions for larger firms.
  • Strong and Effective organizational, analytics and accounting skills with fine attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Considerable knowledge of effective supervisory and general management practices.
  • Ability to interact effectively and supportively with people with disabilities.
  • Ability to project a positive and professional image to the public, co-workers and Didlake clients.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to handle billing for federal contracts and other projects.
