Senior Developer
Ref No.: 17-00209
Location: Bethesda, Maryland
Vector Talent is seeking a Senior Developer to support our client in Bethesda, MD.

Responsibilities:
Our client's engineers are responsible for building new products that provide a simple user experience for complicated business processes. This includes insurance enrollments and calculations, HRIS features, payroll integration, and other third-party integration. You'll get your hands dirty building user interfaces one day and large-scale back-end apps the next. Our client is growing over 200% a year and that brings challenges for feature implementation and data volumes.

We code in C# and use ASP.NET MVC 5 with a homegrown micro-ORM, HTML5, Bootstrap, Vue 2, jQuery, underscore.js, and a smattering of others plus we manage code in git/gitlab. We're experimenting with some additional technologies like dapper, no SQL, and queuing so experience with those is a plus. Our developers are also heavy into SQL -- dynamic SQL, table functions, CTE's -- and performance and scaling are a core part of our development.

The lead engineers manage a product from conception to installation. They are just as comfortable working alone as with leading a team, enjoy a fast development cycle, and are always be willing to help out a colleague with design, review, or advice. The staff engineers are eager learners who enjoy learning the ins-and-outs of business programming but who also explore emerging tools and techniques that may supplement our technology stack.

Qualifications / Requirements:
Required:
  • 5-10 years' experience
  • Experience building and maintaining products with real-world usage
  • Ability to rapidly iterate and roll out new code -- we ship as soon as features are complete
  • Demonstrable track record building high-throughput applications that scale
  • Attention to detail – this is very important, since most of the applications here are mission critical (HR, payroll, deductions, insurance benefits)
  • Ability to own what you are building and see it through from end to end
  • Strong front-end development skills
  • Experience with distributed processing is a plus
  • Designing web service API's
  • Undergraduate degree required
  • Proven in-depth knowledge of C#
