Title - Sr. Grant Accountant
Duration - 3+ months (Contract to hire)

JOB SUMMARY: Under minimal supervision, accounts for post-award activities for federal, state, private and local grants. Reviews Project & Activity Management sub-system set up parameters for assigned awards. Prepares monthly invoices, interacts with Program Managers to obtain invoice approval and bills the appropriate sponsor, including the Federal draw down. Processes invoices and records cash receipts. Assists in reconciling sub-ledgers to the General Ledger. Follows up on past due amounts with sponsors. Interacts collaboratively with the Grant Analysts and Sponsored Programs and Research (SPARO) staff, as well as Denver Health Foundation staff, to ensure grants are properly set up, billed entirely, accurately, and timely. Ensures the general ledger accurately reflects revenue and expense in compliance with GASB accounting standards. In conjunction with Program Managers and SPARO staff, assists with ensuring charges to sponsored projects are in accordance with applicable OMB regulations as well as the terms and conditions of the award. Ensures correct and timely interdepartmental transfers on the general ledger. Prepares grant closeout activities in a timely manner.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: BS or BA in Finance or Accounting, or other business related field
Experience: Typically, three years accounting experience, specifically related to grant accounting
Knowledqe, Skills & Abilities: 10 key by touch; Advanced Excel proficiency , Microsoft Word experience , above average accounting knowledge; familiarity with the Code of Federal Regulations relating to Cost Principles and the Uniform Administrative Requirements, OMB Circular A-133, Audits of States, Local Governments and Non-Profit Organizations and its annual Compliance Supplement. Knowledge of Lawson required, experience with Activities, Accounts Receivable and Billing and Revenue modules preferred. Should possess strong analytical ability, strong problem solving skills, good communication and time management skills
Certificate/License/Registration: CPA Preferred, Grants Management training or certification preferred.) All Certifications and Licenses required for this job must be kept current as a condition of continued employment.
