Job Function Summary:
Involves the design, building, testing, and implementation of clinical application systems in support of biomedical research. Provides support to clinical users through knowledge of clinical processes, documentation needs, workflows, and clinical practice standards, when adapting software to meet their needs. Works with clinicians to create or adapt written protocols. Prepares detailed specs encompassing clinical processes, information flow, risk and impact analysis. May provide customer service, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
The Research Solutions Architect, Clinical Solutions, has the overall responsibility for design and planning for complex, integrated or interoperated care delivery workflows. The incumbent will be responsible for defining application solutions for the clinical research areas of operations and the CTSI Informatics and Research Innovation (IRI) Program. The incumbent will foster and guide IT-enabled transformation initiatives to ensure application/data integrity while incorporating leading edge technology/functionality to support the organization.
The incumbent will develop tools/process to ensure the integrity of system master file build, security, clinical content, decision support algorithms, device integration, report writing and data extraction. The individual in this position will assess Client's Health & research strategies for development opportunities to further establish as a research & innovation hub. The incumbent will collaborate closely with and support the APeX-Epic application teams and research partners to develop innovative solutions for Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) Informatics and Research Innovation (IRI) Program initiatives. This support will include assistance with study design, strategy, build, implementation and reporting. Ensuring that client can efficiently implement research solutions is the main function of this role.

Clinical Systems is responsible for all aspects of the Electronic Health Record (EPIC: APeX - Advancing Patient-Centered Excellence) for hospitals, practices, affiliates and community partners. The Research Solutions Architect will work in collaboration with the APeX-Epic application teams, clinical/business operations, and Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) colleagues to deliver innovative solutions for complex research projects. Provides excellent customer service to end users, tracks issues and follows-up as appropriate. The incumbent will work in multiple locations including Medical Center locations, Hospitals-Oakland and San Francisco, campus, and community connect partners.

· Identify appropriate implementation strategies with research partners relating to the EHR.
· Design efficient clinical research interventions which may include custom tools or third-party systems.
Less frequent and more complex problems solved by the employee:
· Create custom code or develop custom tools for the EHR.
· Program, debug, translate, or otherwise participate in Predictive Model development.
