General Description

PURPOSE OF POSITION:
A. Create and modify existing documentation to complete drawing packages, installation checklists, machine part lists, illustrations, and machine specs of production equipment.
B. Provide support to technicians to create and modify existing documentation to complete drawing packages, installation checklists, machine part lists, illustrations, and machine specs of production equipment.
C. Provide mechanical equipment designs and layouts which meet Corning Machine Drafting Standards on CAD based formats. (AutoCAD® 2017, Inventor 2017)

Required Skills/Experience

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ongoing Tasks
A. Create, review, and update installation documentation and drawings as required.
B. Procure and expedite materials for new or modified equipment.
C. Re-design mechanical components to reduce installation cost, solve equipment interferences, and correct inadequate designs.
D. Incorporate redlined drawings into Corning Inc. standard packages and follow-up with drafting services as required to resolve design issues.

Project Tasks:
A. Support engineers and technicians as needed for Electricians and Mechanics during installation activities.
B. Provide sketches or marked-up drawings as dictated by project and evolutionary equipment needs.
C. Complete documentation packages in Autodesk Inventor including conversion from legacy AutoCAD.
D. Ensure updated documentation exists in assigned areas.

Additional Position Requirements:
Team based from Wilmington, NC. This posting is for a project at the Midland, NC location. Often contractors that excel and are interested in continuing beyond the initial project may be considered for additional assignments. However, these additional projects may not be located at the same place as the initial posting. We have four plants in NC and several more around the world. Future travel requirements will vary based on project locations. International travel may also be possible to support future project needs.

(Hours will vary with no guarantee of OT, but 10-20hrs per week is not uncommon and expected at times)

Education required:
BS Mechanical Engineering Technology, AAS Mechanical Engineering Technology, (Equivalent work experience may be considered in rare circumstances.)

Experience required:
Minimum 5 years experience

Equipment or software experience preferred:
AutoCAD® 2017, Inventor 2017, Windows7, MS Office suite including Power Point, Excel, Word,
PC based systems, Pneumatic systems and schematics, Automated equipment systems experience

Equipment Used:
A. Personal Computers
B. Equipment used for machine installation activities: hand tools, etc.
C. Electronic and manual measurement devices

Personnel Directed By This Position:
A. Documentation writers as needed.
B. Direction of mechanical trades as needed.

B. Electro-mechanical troubleshooting ability, proficient with pneumatic and electrical schematics
C. Process variable understanding: flow, temperature, rate, pressure, level.
D. Thorough understanding of mechanical drive trains, electrical and pneumatic actuators.
