Our client is looking for a Network Security Engineer in Bethesda, MD. The Network Security Engineer will be a member of a network security operations team supporting multiple enterprise data centers for a large federal client. This person will be a coordinator, firewall administrator, trainer, and advisor on network security for the client. Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Work with the Information Security Officer to guide decisions on solutions and best practices.
  • Represent information security on organizational and enterprise teams.
  • Act as primary on Intrusion Detection/Prevention devices and ASA Firewalls.
  • Support execution of network upgrades as well as system security upgrade efforts and provide tier 3 level help-desk support.
  • Support incident response and forensic analysis.
  • Provide input for documentation on new or existing systems. Provide security analysis of new architecture design on new technologies as well as provide high-level security engineering.
  • Develop and conduct tests to ensure systems meet documented user requirements.
  • Provide system/equipment/specialized training and technical guidance
  • Apply fundamental concepts, processes, practices, and procedures on technical assignments. Performs work that requires practical experience and training.
  • Thoroughly trained and experienced in supporting Windows XP and, Windows 7, Windows 10, and Mac OS 10.6, 10.7, 10.8 and 10.8 operating systems.
  • Determine system specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility
  • Experience in IT lifecycle administration with a focus on maintaining security and minimizing vulnerabilities.
  • Must have experience in different authentication methods, i.e., Kerberos, Two factor, NTLM, PKI, SecurID, etc.
  • Ability to work in a complex(cross team) and fast moving work environment.
  • Technical Requirements:
  • Demonstrated experience with ePolicy Orchestrator.
  • Experience with SCCM/WSUS as a patch management system.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Nessus vulnerability scanner and its' use in remediation.
  • Demonstrated skills in using tools and applications on Linux (Unix), Windows, MacOS -Develop documentation for policies and performing analysis of existing documentation -Handle multiple projects at any time and communicate with project teams and leads.
  • Knowledge of networking (TCP/IP) protocols, computer/network security, and system administration
  • Knowledge of INFOSEC operations, vulnerability assessment, and security-scanning tools.
  • Experience with Layer 2/3 firewalls such as Cisco ASA firewalls.
  • Experience with Layer 2/3 switches such as Cisco Switches.
  • Experience with endpoint protection tools like McAfee, ESET, Cylance

Relevant Certifications & Education:
  • Must have 3-4 years' experience working with different security software, SCCM, Tenable, Cisco ASA firewall, ePolicy Orchestrator, Network Access Control
  • Must have minimum 2 years' experience in network and/or server security design
  • Bachelor Degree preferred or the equivalent of 7+ years' experience
  • CEH: Certified Ethical Hacker preferred

Great to have but not required:
  • CCNA: Cisco Certified Network Associate
  • CISSP: Certified Information Systems Security Professional
  • CCNP (Security): Cisco Certified Network Professional in Security
