Title:  Java Developer
Client' Health Informatics and Infrastructure Solutions group is seeking a Junior Java Developer to support an exciting project at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI).  The position will be located in Bethesda, Maryland. 
The successful candidate will work in an agile and fast paced environment supporting NIH scientists, researchers and IT professionals whose mission is to solve unique and challenging problems. This role will have an excellent opportunity to interact with Project Managers, Developers, Business Representatives, and Subject Matter Experts. Individual must be a motivated, self-driven team player who interacts well with others, and is a good communicator.  
Applicants will qualify for this position with a Bachelor's Degree and two or more years' experience in a project execution environment.   • BS in Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline
  • 2+ years of hands on design and development experience in major enterprise systems development projects 
  • Performs development, testing, implementation, and support of application systems. 
  • Assist in definition of project tasks; performs change impact analysis tasks.
  • Assists in the creation of comprehensive unit test plans and creates and executes test cases in line with test plans.
  • Performs design, coding, testing, implementation, and documentation of solutions. 
  • Lends expertise to design, coding, testing, debugging, documenting, maintaining, and modifying of computer programs of moderate complexity, significance, and risk.
  • Performs investigation, analysis, and resolution of technical problems related to system functions, programming, and procedures.
  • Design and develop Java and J2EE based web applications using Java frameworks
  • Create stored procedures, functions, triggers and associated SQL database scripts

  • Experience with n-tier Java web application development (including JavaScript, jQuery, HTML, CSS)
  • Experience participating in an Agile development team and knowledge of standard Agile/Scrum practices
  • Good understanding of Object-Oriented Principles
  • Experience performing unit testing and integration testing to validation solutions
  • Proficiency with all phases and aspects of the software development life-cycle 
  • Experience building Responsive UI websites
  • Hands-on experience with DevOps practices and procedures for large systems with high-availability requirements
  • Experience with GitHub or BitBucket, Jira, Jenkins, Bootstrap framework
Requires the ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.
