Associate Project Manager I

Job Description: Provide Engineering Support for the Bus Command Center Project and other Electrical Capital Projects
  • Assist Construction Manager's Office with electrical engineering support function for and other electrical construction capital projects.
  • Review electrical drawings, specifications and RFI's.
  • Managing various construction administrative processes (payments, scheduling, estimating, additional work orders).
  • Preparing and/or overseeing the preparation of spreadsheets, scopes of work, estimates, change orders, budget modifications, organize project files and documents, TAL services and written construction-related correspondence.
  • Coordinating daily project management activities for the Construction Manger according to NYCT Project Management Procedure/Guidelines.
  • Working with Construction Manager in meeting project goals, attending project coordination meetings with stakeholders, preparing meeting minutes and following up on action items.
  • Manage the coordination of field visits, surveys and inspections.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the Construction Manager.
Work Location: 300 Cadman Plaza, 2 Broadway and Field Offices
Education Requirement: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Business Administration
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Experience Requirements: Two (2) years of electrical-related experience or project management work in capital construction project coordination. A satisfactory equivalent of education and experience may be considered.

Special Skills/Training Requirements:
  • Knowledge of electrical capital projects.
  • Knowledge of electrical engineering guidelines, specifications and standards of performance.
  • Understanding of electrical power distribution preferred.
  • Knowledge of project management processes with practical experience of field operations.
  • Knowledge of project management software preferable
  • Proficiency in the English language with ability to clearly write and verbally communicate.
  • Experience working with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Strong analytic problem solving and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to set priorities and ensure timely completion/closeout of assignments.
  • Computer literate with working knowledge of MS Word and Excel.

Other Work Requirements
  • The consultant must attend a one-day NYCT Track safety training Course is required prior to participating in work on or near the track or wayside.
  • The consultant will provide safety shoes, at no cost to NYCT, which meets NYCT guidelines and specifications before participating in work on or near the track or wayside.
  • The consultant must have OSHA 30-hour certification.
Hours: Normal Work Week: Monday-Friday (weekends and nights when necessary)
No. of Paid Hours Per Week: 40 hours (NYCT does not payfor lunch hours).
Hours of Work: 8 am-5pm (minimum; includes lunch without pay):
  • Technical function — 50%, Administrative function — 50%.
  • Field location — 25%, Office location — 75%. Right-of-Way access is required.
Other Information: Duration of Service Required: 52 Weeks.
