Clinical Support Associate

The Clinical Support Associate (CSA) performs delegated clinical and administrative duties in a medical support role within their scope of practice and consistent with their education, training, and experience.
Facilitates provision of care to patients and families: Obtains and records patient’s vital signs, and reports abnormal findings. Performs interview history, including NPO Status, pain and allergy screens. Completes documents related to patient visit (i.e. records vital signs on correct form).

Works with Charge Nurse in order to maintain efficient patient and schedule flow. Assists nursing and/or medical staff with diagnostic or therapeutic procedures including positioning, holding, and comforting patients.

Performs phlebotomy as per hospital standards . Assists with the transfer of patients to/from clinical areas. Provides supportive care for patients including feeding, toileting, bathing and dressing. Responds appropriately to patient/family requests and obtains assistance of other team members as needed to address patient needs.

Is self-directed in work area; seeks out and performs meaningful work during patient downtime. Offers assistance to other healthcare providers. Ensures patient environment in a well-stocked and organized

Maintains telephone communication with Registration and in-patient units. Performs patient/family follow-up calls under direction of phone triage nurse. Enters patient information/data into Patient record. Provides additional administrative coverage as needed.

Previous pediatric experience highly preferred
• Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to maintain a safe work environment.
