Location: Merrifield, Virginia
Client is seeking a Data Center technician to join our team in support of a federal law enforcement agency. The Datacenter Technician is responsible for the daily operations and maintenance of the Datacenter.

Specific duties include:
·         Performs all tasks associated with the installation, acceptance and maintenance of servers, switches, storage devices, and other critical infrastructure equipment and all related cabling
·         Install cabinets, equipment, and cross-connects, performing remote hands requests,
·         Responsible to lead the troubleshooting process and repairs in case of events or equipment failure providing recommendations to prevent re-occurrence of such events
·         Work with vendors to report hardware failures and repairs; Perform escort duties for vendors as required
·         Track inventory and warranty information as necessary
·         Work location includes Merrifield (Primary) and Sterling (Secondary)
·         Execute customers' support requests ranging from server reboot to complex Support other Operations and Maintenance efforts as assigned
·         Responsible for cleanliness of data center and common areas
·         Perform data center walkthroughs

Required Skills:
·         Minimum 3 years experience in similar mission critical facilities
·         Analytical troubleshooting skills
·         Ability to follow specified policies and procedures
·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills
·         Working knowledge with Data Center Network Hardware (Ethernet, Fiber Channel interfaces)

Desired Skills:
·         BCSI Technician Credential Preferred
·         Comfortable working in a fast paced environment with flexibility to work different hours when needed
·         Install cable runs, patch panels and cross connects. Performs cable lacing as per the Datacenter standards
·         Hands-on experience with the installation of both copper and fiber media types
·         Working knowledge with cable testing systems to ensure operational integrity
·         Working knowledge of troubleshooting both copper and fiber cable media. (E.g. dB loss, Attenuation, Breaks, Termination Problems, Transmission Characteristics)
