Job Description: Project Description: CCTV at 2071h Street Yard or other electrical capital construction

 Description of Work:
Under managerial direction, the selected candidate(s) will provide field support during
construction of capital projects:
a.) Perform inspection of electronic and electrical systems involving CCTV
installations and various inspections of minor/general construction work such as
nominal concrete work; monitoring several types of project activities working
independently under general off-site supervision by NYCT Construction Manager.
b.) Ensure quality and adherence to applicable standards and specifications. The
selected candidate(s) will also be expected to be a subject area expert, in accordance
with the level of the position held, who will be called upon to provide technical
review and direction as issues and problems arise in the construction of projects.
c.) Responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to: Assisting with
field inspections to evaluate the work performed and materials used; verifying
quality of workmanship, quality of materials used, and compliance with plans,
specifications, estimates and applicable codes and regulations; assist in evaluating
payment requisitions, change order proposals, document deficiencies and deviations
from plans, reviewing contractor submittals and preparing comprehensive daily
d.) Arrange and coordinate the furnishing ofNYCT supplied services such as flagging,
access & protection and train diversions. Monitor usage against Contract allotment.
e.) General office administration, including report reproduction, collation and
distribution will also be expected. Review construction documents and advise the
Construction Manager of potential issues.
f.) Coordinate/document the work and progress of construction project.
g.) Ensure specifications are followed with emphasis on safety, quality and schedule.
Work Requirements
h.) 30-Hour OSHA Certification is required.
i.) The Consultant shall provide PPE such as safety shoes, vest, safety eyewear, etc. at
no cost to NYCT, which meets NYCT guidelines and specifications when
participating in any activities located on the track or wayside.
j.) The Consultant shall become familiar with and follow NYCT Guidelines and
Procedures as applicable.
k.) Must pass a One-day NYCT Track Safety & General Order Training Course prior
to participating any in work CPM project.                                                                                   
Education Requirement: Bachelor's Degree in electrical engineering or related field
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Experience Requirements:
a. One year's experience with on active construction projects. Electronic system
inspection experience preferred.

Special Skills/Requirements:
a. Demonstrated project management experience.
b. Knowledge of electronic systems such as CCTV and intrusion alarm; familiarity
with use of fiber optic cable; knowledge of applicable codes and standards.
c. Knowledge of network configuration is desirable but not required.
d. Computer literate with working knowledge ofMS Word, Access and Excel. CADD
experience is desirable but not required
e. The ability to write clearly, organize project information, prepare reports, meeting
minutes and presentations and interact/communicate with contractors and other
NYCT departments.
f. Knowledge and/or experience with capital construction procedures and field
g. Knowledge and/or experience with construction scheduling and estimating.
h. Knowledge and/or experience with NYCT operations and mass-transit facilities
1. The ability to coordinate with a multitude of users such as operations and
engineering personnel.
Hours: Normal Work Week: Monday through Friday (work will be primarily nights/weekends)
No. ofPaid Hours Per Week: 40 hours
(NYCT does not pay for lunch hours)
Hours of Work: 10:00 PM- 5:00AM or 8:00AM to 4:00PM
60% technical/field & 40% administrative
