Job Summary
The Senior Staff Accountant assists the Finance department with daily accounting functions including: daily bank reconciliations, foreign currency rate updates and translation, fixed-asset reporting, balance sheet account reconciliations, assisting with the expense reimbursement process, and other special projects as needed. The Senior Staff Accountant also is responsible for the accumulation and tie out of monthly General Ledger (GL) binder schedules and performs limited supervisory functions. 

Job Description & Responsibilities:
  • Prepares daily operating and disbursement account reconciliations for Company and wholly owned subsidiaries. 
  • Analyzes fixed-asset invoices and prepares fixed-asset reports, including periodic reporting for external audits and tax return preparation.  Reconciles fixed assets to general ledger.  Ensures that fixed assets comply with the Firm's capitalization and depreciation policies and that class lives and depreciation methods are accurate. 
  • Compiles and analyzes financial information to document business transactions and prepares entries to accounts. 
  • Assists in reviewing employee expense reimbursement adjustments and preparation of payroll upload files. 
  • Analyzes prepaid expenses and prepares and reconciles prepaid expenses, insurance, and software licenses. 
  • Reconciles and prepares critical accrual accounts.
  • Prepares and reconciles other deposits. 
  • Prepares and reconciles daily and weekly health insurance account reconciliations. 
  • Prepares and reviews Section 125 accounts. 
  • Prepares and reviews employee receivable accounts. 
  • Prepares and reviews IBNR accrual workpapers and support. 
  • Prepares other general ledger reconciliation schedules as needed and collects data for external auditors and third-party tax preparers. 
  • Assists with expense report auditing and reimbursement. 
  • Assists department in reviewing and researching historical financial journal entries, documents, and reports. 
  • Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports. 
  • Performs ad hoc projects and other duties as assigned. 
  • Monitors compliance with GAAP and Firm procedures. 
  • Maintains journal entries and is responsible for department archiving activities and requests. 
  • Prepares financial analyses and reports, and presents findings and recommendations to VP, Finance as needed. 
  • Maintains and reviews balances subsidiaries' records by verifying, allocating, posting, reconciling transactions, and resolving discrepancies. 
  • Performs translation of foreign subsidiaries from local currency to USD for preparation of consolidated financial statements 
  • Assists with month-end intercompany account reconciliations 
  • Research and respond to inquiries from Budgeting 
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) or equivalent in Accounting or Finance from a four-year college or university, and five to seven years related experience and/or training in a similar environment or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
Computer Skills:
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must have basic skills in Microsoft® Access and accounting software, and intermediate skills in Microsoft® Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet navigation and research.
  • Experience using MS Query and Excel for advanced reporting is preferred.
Certificates and Licenses:  
  • Valid driver's license required.  
  • CPA required.
Supervisory Responsibilities:  
  • The position requires limited supervisory responsibilities, including training employees, assigning work, and checking work for accuracy and completeness.
