Designer II

The Designer II creates mechanical, structural, electrical, electronic designs for new product parts, subassemblies, assemblies or system configurations using 3-D CAD Systems, compiling Bills of Materials.

Day to Day
  • Modeling, detailing, documenting and verifying mechanical, structural, electrical, electronic parts, subassemblies, assemblies or systems
  • Creating 3-D models, depicting relationship of component and parts; identifying dimensions, angles, curvatures, tolerances and materials
  • Prepare pressure vessel calculations with guidance from engineer, using pressure vessel software
  • Preparing Bills of Materials
  • Ensures quality of drawings according to department standards
  • Makes various calculations and frequently uses charts and tables to accommodate the design process
  • Analyzing the effect of proposed changes for proper fit and/or interference problems
  • Recommending workable solutions or alternate construction and modifying drawings as required
  • Prepares Bills of Material relative to design documentation
  • Requires use of computers, proficient using 3-D CAD design; proficient using complete Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, etc.), proficient with email system, Microsoft Outlook preferred; strong creative ability to design and develop mechanical, structural, electrical, electronic equipment
Education/Experience - Required
  • Associates Degree or Technical School Training in ME, EE, Computer Aided Design Technology or related field
  • 3-5 yrs designing and documenting mechanical, structural, electrical, electronic equipment
  • Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills
  • Thorough knowledge of drafting standards
  • Experience in related industry
  • Working knowledge in compression, power generation, or offshore oil and gas
  • Familiarity with any of the following tools: CADWorx Plant Professional 2008, CADWorx Equipment, ISOGEN, PVELITE, PRO-E, AutoCAD, AutoCAD Mechanical, Oracle
