Couchbase Administrator

The Couchbase Administrator will provide the technical domain leadership required to effectively deliver high-quality, timely solutions and services that meet client's business needs with a focus on mobile offline capabilities utilizing sync-gateway.
The Couchbase Admin's primary focus is to plan design, optimize, implement and support all aspects of Couchbase databases, sync-gateways and underlying operating system.
The Couchbase Admin will ensure security and compliance within enterprise standards.
Primary responsibilities:
Configure, optimize and maintain Couchbase clusters, Sync-gateways and underlying operating systems.
Complete accountability and responsibility to provide Level 3 (advanced) technical expertise for resolution of outages, service level issues, and user/customer support needs in coordination with other support teams.
Ensure quality and consistency of design, development (if applicable), testing, and integration testing cycles and deliverables, adhering to Architecture, PMO, and compliance guidelines.
Collaborates with other engineers and architects to drive guidelines, methodologies, and documentation
Work with developers in writing SQL, functions & procedures, troubleshoot and tune coding issues.
Drive continuous improvement of design and delivery standards. And ensures that all processes and procedures are fully documented, kept up to date and properly socialized
Possibility of an On-call rotation is required to support a 24/7 environment and is also expected to be able to work outside business hours to support a global delivery.
Requirements and Qualifications:
Highly proficient in all aspects of Couchbase database and sync-gateway administration including Configuration, Database Security, Backup & Recovery, Replication, DB performance troubleshooting, and Advanced Tuning.
Highly proficient in managing synchronization with mobile devices and also synchronization with back end systems of record
2+ years' experience designing, developing, tuning, optimizing, deploying and updating Couchbase clusters and Sync Gateway in a highly available production environment
2+ years' Experience in developing backend Node.js services and API's.
2+ Experience in integrating backend data sources into a core database.
5+ years' experience designing, developing, tuning, optimizing, deploying and updating NoSQL instances in a high volume transactional environment with critical uptime requirements for a business providing 24/7 SaaS, e-commerce or web-based solutions
Experience deploying highly available Couchbase landscapes into AWS a plus.
Must have configured and managed online backup technologies in Couchbase and ensured disaster recovery and data retention protocols (backup, monitoring, security, installation) existed and were followed
Good exposure to Centos and Redhat Linux. Good understanding of various recovery scenarios, refresh techniques and familiarity with HA solutions as well as shell or ruby scripting is highly desirable.
Excellent understanding of navigating highly secure enterprise networks
Excellent troubleshooting and performance tuning skills
Proficiency in Linux and automation skills
Must be able to conduct systems analysis and translate user requirements into business solutions.
Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, conflict resolution, customer service skills and problem solving skills
Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, high volume, deadline driven environment
Professionalism in dealing with all levels of management and staff
Additional Skills (Preferred, but not mandatory)
Previous Experience with managing production PostgreSQL database servers
Experience with supporting Node.js platforms
Experience with supporting load balancer technologies, specifically NGINX and BigIP F5.
Knowledge and experience with Oracle and/or MS SQL Server Database administration
Experience with managing and supporting MongoDB
Experience working in a Cloud environment like Amazon EC2, S3 and Beanstalk and internal VMware Virtual environments
