Job Description: The Senior Network Engineer position will be supporting a large Government client with world-wide locations. The Senior Engineer will work with a small team of Network Engineers in a secured operational environment. The network operations team is responsible for maintenance and compliance of Government IT network systems. Scheduling new hardware deployments & network software patches and updates, configure, monitor and troubleshoot; routers, switches, encryption devices and firewalls in a Windows Active Directory environment. This position's primary focus to ensure production systems are secure, performing optimally, deliverables to customers and analysis of the network performance for Wide Area Networks (WANs) and Local Area Networks (LANs). This position will monitor network performance; troubleshoot network problems and outages; schedule network upgrades; design and plan new networks or network extensions; and collaborate with System Integration network architects. The on-site Senior Engineer will interface with other team members, attend meetings, generate reports, and provide recommendations for network enhancements and improvements to production networks. This position reports to the on-site Lead Network Engineer.

  • Candidate must possess an Active Top Secret Clearance - required ( w/ the ability to obtain SCI clearance )
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Math, Engineering or equivalent job experience.
  • 5+ years' experience working with Cisco Networking Systems
  • Cisco CCNA R&S required ... Cisco CCNP R&S
  • Excellent communications skills and ability to work independently and/or with a team
  • Candidate must possess the ability to work in a fast paced environment with minimal direction
  • Advanced experience with network engineering documentation, network configurations and network protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, SNMP, NTP)
  • Proficient in producing technical network drawings with Microsoft Visio
  • Candidate must have a solid understanding of switching protocols (VLANs, STP, LACP and Port-Security)
  • Candidate must have a solid understanding of interior routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, and static routing)
  • Candidate must have a solid understanding of IPsec technologies
  • Experience with VRF & DMVPN configurations
  • Experience with BGP & MPLS technologies
  • Experience using authentication protocols such as Cisco TACACS or RADIUS
  • Experience using Cisco ASA Security Appliances and/or McAfee/Forcepoint Enterprise Firewalls
  • Candidate will have working knowledge of Cisco Call manager , UNITY & VoIP technologies
  • Experience with Fiber Optic cabling and Copper Ethernet cabling
  • Experience with Cisco ISR 1900, 2900, 3900 and 4000 Series routers and Cisco Catalyst Switches
  • Experience with Brocade BigIron RX Switches
  • 15% Travel required
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Candidate will be expected to increase their technical knowledge and improve their network skills thru self-study and online network training
  • Maintain detailed network topology drawings and modify & backup networks configurations
  • Provide networking systems integration, Optimizing network topologies, support network installation, identify network security requirements, and enforcing system policies, standards and best practices
  • Evaluate advanced technologies and consult with government client to recommend network systems solutions
  • Maximizing network performance by monitoring performance, troubleshooting network problems and outages, scheduling upgrades and collaborate with other network engineers, departments & organization architects to maintain network optimization & security;
  • Configure routing ,switching, VPN's , Enterprise firewalls, & VoIP technologies
  • Provide support for remote on-site engineers and end users/customers troubleshooting network outages
