Job Description:
Oracle/MS SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) will provide day-to-day support, maintenance, monitoring, patching and troubleshooting for MS SQL Server and Oracle databases for USAMRMC supported and hosted within the Network Enterprise Center (NEC), Fort Detrick, MD. Ensure Oracle patch releases are applied within 30 days of availability. Tasks include the following:
  • Operate and maintain Oracle 11g and newer (current version) databases in a Windows or LINUX environment
  • Operate and maintain MS SQL Server 2012 or newer (current version)
  • Migrate databases from Oracle to MS SQL Server and/or vice versa
  • Use and maintain Oracle/MS SQL Server database performance analysis tools
  • Manage database passwords for all applications
  • Optimize and tune SQL queries
  • Understand database Security in terms of User Roles, privileges and Responsibilities for Applications.
  • Understand and use of the Oracle Object model
  • Understand and Apply Oracle/MS SQL Server Database management tools and utilities.
  • Understand, Analyze and manage Log files.

2.2.3 Application Development:
Contractor shall provide design, development, testing, and deployment of application code supported by Oracle and/or MS SQL Server databases. Tasks include the following:
  • Design, develop, test, deploy, evaluate and configure Oracle and SQL Server database products in support of user and system requirements
  • Create and maintain Oracle database objects, complex Oracle Procedural Language/Structured Query Language (PL/SQL) programs, queries, packages, functions, procedures, and triggers.
  • Create and maintain complex MS SQL Server database objects, queries, functions, stored procedures, triggers.
  • Manage and administer the ExLibris Voyager (current version) library management application
  • Create new Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) and SQL scripts to support a data warehouse.
  • Anticipates and resolves integration issues for technical infrastructures of all complexities
  • Provide thought leadership for database management systems (DBMS) use, design and implementation
  • Analyze requirements for data and reports including enhancements to existing reports.
  • Plan the integration of technical solutions with other business applications, systems, and data warehouses.
  • Perform problem analysis, debugging and coding as part of production support and new development.
  • Create technical specifications and unit test plans
  • Design, develop, and debug production applications using Oracle and/or MS SQL databases.
  • Perform query optimization and performance tuning
  • Use formal implementation methodology such as software development lifecycle (SDLC) to plan, create, test, and deploy applications/systems.
  • Create, maintain and/or use database workflows, data loading tools, Oracle Forms and Reports and MS SQL Server reports

Required Experience:
6-8 years of relevant experience.

Required Education:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, Management, Physical Science, or other technically related discipline.

Desired Experience:
At least 6-8 years of experience in a position with a similar size and scope.

Required Certification(s):
All staff are required to be at IAT Level II (described in DoD 8570.01M) and certified in their own CE.
