Job Description: Pega Application Tester
Role: Pega Application Tester / QA Tester
We are looking for a Pega Application Tester responsible for validating Pega-based applications across functional, integration, regression, and user acceptance testing. The tester will work closely with Business Analysts, Pega Developers, System Architects, Product Owners, and client stakeholders to ensure that the application meets business requirements, performs as expected, and is ready for production deployment.
Key Responsibilities
The Pega Application Tester will be responsible for understanding business requirements, user stories, process flows, decision logic, case lifecycle, integrations, and application behavior within the Pega platform.
They will create and execute test scenarios, test cases, and test data for Pega case management, workflows, assignments, service levels, decision rules, UI screens, validations, and integrations.
The tester will perform functional testing, system testing, integration testing, regression testing, smoke testing, and UAT support for Pega applications.
They will validate end-to-end business processes across different user roles, work queues, work baskets, stages, steps, and case statuses.
The role requires identifying, documenting, and tracking defects in tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, Rally, or similar defect management platforms.
The tester will work with developers and architects to analyze defects, retest fixes, and ensure timely closure of issues.
They will support test planning, test estimation, test execution reporting, defect triage, and daily status updates.
The tester will also validate inbound and outbound integrations, API responses, data mapping, reports, correspondence, notifications, and external system interactions.
They will ensure that test cases cover positive, negative, boundary, exception, and role-based scenarios.
Required Skills
Strong understanding of software testing lifecycle, test case design, defect lifecycle, and QA processes.
Experience testing Pega applications, preferably involving case management, workflows, assignments, approvals, SLAs, correspondence, decisioning, and integrations.
Ability to understand Pega application flows, case types, user roles, work queues, business rules, and data models.
Experience with test management and defect tracking tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, Client ALM, Rally, or Zephyr.
Good understanding of functional testing, regression testing, integration testing, smoke testing, and UAT support.
Ability to write clear test cases, test scenarios, defect descriptions, and execution reports.
Basic understanding of APIs, web services, data validation, and integration testing.
Good communication skills to interact with business users, developers, architects, and project stakeholders.
Preferred Skills
Experience with Pega Platform, Pega Customer Service, Pega Sales Automation, Pega CDH, or other Pega frameworks.
Knowledge of Pega Dev Studio or App Studio for understanding application rules, flows, data pages, decision tables, and case lifecycle.
Experience testing Pega applications during upgrades, cloud migration, modernization, or release deployments.
Basic SQL knowledge for backend data validation.
Experience with automation testing tools such as Selenium, Tosca, Playwright, or Pega scenario testing is a plus.
Experience with API testing tools such as Postman or SoapUI.
Exposure to performance testing, accessibility testing, security testing, or mobile testing is an advantage.
Roles and Activities
The tester will review requirements and user stories, identify test scenarios, prepare test cases, execute tests, log defects, support defect triage, retest fixes, perform regression testing, and provide QA sign-off support.
They will validate application behavior across multiple user roles such as customer service representative, manager, approver, back-office user, admin, or external user depending on the application.
They will ensure that the Pega application works correctly across case creation, assignment routing, approvals, escalations, correspondence, reporting, integration touchpoints, and case closure.
