Director, Data Quality

Staff Perm is assisting our Financial Services client in hiring a Director, Data Quality. Challenge yourself as part of a dynamic, talented development group for a highly driven and successful technology-centric financial services company. The Vice President (VP) Data Quality is responsible for the definition and implementation of data quality management initiatives and functional system administration across the organization. This includes developing, implementing, and managing the operational aspects of the Data Quality projects, especially Risk Data Aggregation, Risk Data Reporting, FRY14 and Capital Plan.

Essential Functions:

Responsible for developing the data quality framework, guidelines, policies & standards and enforcement of concepts as established by the organization.
Collaborate with IT to set-up and maintain the data quality tools, access procedures and folder structures.
Partner with Data Stewards, MIS and Business function leads to capture Data Quality rules, establish thresholds, manage set-up of rules in the DQ tool and implement DQ run cycles.
Manage data profiling activities working with DQ analysts and IT.
Define and establish a process for on-going DQ measurement, reporting threshold violations and overall DQ monitoring and communication across the company through dashboards and reports.
Drive issue identification, logging and remediation efforts through collaborative work across Data Governance, MIS, IT Data Services and Application development teams.
Engage Business and IT PMO as needed for capturing and prioritizing DQ project needs.
Identify training needs, define a training roll-out plan and work with other partners to develop the training modules for the Data Governance organization and publish training penetration and effectiveness across the company for data related initiatives.
Manage communications for the overall Data Governance organization.
Positions business areas for successful audits and regulatory exams by implementing industry guidelines and 'best practice' frameworks.
Fosters relationships with internal and external customers and consistently deliver quality services.
Creates strategies around data quality, metadata (i.e. collecting and publishing definition of data items), and information governance.
Escalates issues and risks for the DQ portions and the overall Data Governance initiative.
Follows up on data integrity alerts with IT and business until resolution.
Define DQ dashboards / reports, log, manage issues and engage others for remediation activities.
Develops team members by providing feedback on strength and growth areas, providing an environment that supports learning and development, and regularly discussing progress towards goals with direct reports.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

Provides leadership and direction through directors and/or managers and exempt staff. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Client's policies and applicable laws. le laws.


Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting / Computer Science / Business / MIS, or equivalent combination of education and experience, required.
  • Ten (10) or more years of progressively responsible experience in data analysis, data provisioning, quality framework, relational databases, data processing and experience working with large data initiatives within a financial institution.
  • Minimum eight (8) years' experience with in related data management and analysis role.
  • Five (5) – seven (7) years of previous management experience required
  • Strong business knowledge of financial products, loan systems, and credit lifecycle knowledge. Prior data quality / QA experience within a financial institution.
  • Excellent track record of defining and implementing quality framework, procedures and process improvement and driving change across the organization.
  • Prior experience liaising between Data Management, IT and other internal customers.
  • Proven track record demonstrating the ability to develop and manage an efficient department.
  • Proven analytical skills.
  • Strong understanding of relational database structures, theories, principles and practices.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Ability to quickly understand new business initiatives and identify data to meet business needs.
  • Exceptional analytical, conceptual and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong written, technical documentation and oral communication skills.
  • Strong presentation and public speaking skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation and collaboration skills.
  • Knowledge of financial services processes and business terms.
  • Ability to lead, manage, develop, mentor and motivate a team of staff members.
  • Time management skills with strong attention to details; ability to work independently and manage multiple task assignments.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook; department specific PC applications.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Preferences:
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience leading executive level governance committees is a plus.
  • Knowledge of different types of Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence solutions highly desired.
