Senior Wireless Network Engineer

Job Description:
Staff Perm is supporting a Network Engineering team that is looking for a dynamic team member to play a pivotal role in their Wireless Networking group. The focus is on leveraging best of breed wireless LAN products, scaling fast, and maintaining a secure and performant infrastructure. The team is small but professional. We work hard, have fun, and are extremely passionate about network stability, performance, and scalability.

The successful candidate will serve as a key member of our team by supporting ongoing wireless networking, tools, implementation, support, and monitoring.

Location: San Francisco or San Jose CA
Position: 90-day temp to perm

  • Implementation of wireless networking utilizing Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers
  • Implement, upgrade and monitor various wireless network devices/software/services
  • Implement, upgrade and monitor network intelligence tools like visibility switches, netflow, and packet capture
  • Leverage core products for network monitoring and troubleshooting
  • Assist the Observability team in the creation of monitoring and detection solutions using Splunk products
  • Act as liaison with other departments and business units to support ongoing wireless network operations and maintenance
  • Collaborate with third-party support and service vendors to ensure that the network stays operational

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or a related discipline
  • 5+ years network engineering experience focused on wireless networks in a multisite or multinational corporation
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills
  • Extensive design, implementation, and operational experience with Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers, wireless access points, and management systems
  • Exceptional experience with enterprise networking, monitoring, troubleshooting, and management tools.
  • Must be self-directed, with the ability to work alone or in teams, with minimal oversight, driving positive results in difficult circumstances while maintaining attention to detail
  • Able to efficiently manage and deliver on multiple tasks
  • Ability to effectively engage and communicate as directed with a variety of audiences both technical and non-technical staff
  • Must be able to explain complex systems and technical topics to others who may have minimal technical knowledge using oral, written and visual presentations
  • Fosters and builds a collaborative working relationship with operational and business stakeholders

Nice to haves:
  • Certifications such as Cisco CCNP or CCIE (Wireless or R&S)
  • Cisco Prime Infrastructure Experience
  • Expert level understanding of signal propagation, RF and predictive analysis
  • Experience with Aruba Wireless platforms
