Our direct client is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to work in their Ashburn, VA location.
 
Job Description:
 
Our client is increasing the security and speed of its data centers, and is looking for a Senior Network Engineer to join the team in Ashburn, Virginia! This is a hands-on role that requires generating solutions and troubleshooting problems on a day-to-day basis.
 
A successful candidate will be:
 
  • comfortable with complex Juniper JunOS configurations (EX, QFX, MX, and SRX platforms), including routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, ISIS, VRRP), firewall rules, spanning tree, and the initial turn up of Juniper devices
  • comfortable with FortiNet FortiGate firewalls, including FortiManager and FortiAnalyzer.
  • comfortable translating business requirements into technical specifications.
  • The ideal candidate will have hands-on operational experience in data center, service provider, or corporate office networks. Candidates with a proven track record of successful projects and skillful troubleshooting will excel.
  • Candidates with experience in other technologies run by the Networking team will be preferred, including Aruba wireless, Citrix Netscaler, and Pulse Secure VPNs. Network automation experience is considered a positive. Proficiency with Microsoft office tools is required, proficiency with Atlassian tools considered a plus.  
    Required Skills:
     
  • Expert level knowledge of JunOS configuration, maintenance, and Juniper hardware.
  • Expert level knowledge of layer 2 Ethernet switching, including VLANs, Spanning Tree, 802.1q Trunks, ARP, IGMP, LACP.
  • Expert level knowledge of layer 3 IP Routing, including subnetting, OSPF, ISIS, BGP, VRRP.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills, able to explain network concepts to both fellow technical staff in detail, and to non-technical staff at an appropriate level.  
    Desired Skills:
     
  • Some experience configuring network elements by script or configuration management software.
  • A deep understanding of security, including IDS/IPS, ACLs, LAN and Wireless station security, 802.1x, and SSL.

    Education:
     
  • Bachelors Degree in a related field and at least 5 years industry experience.
  • Associates Degree in a related field and at least 7 years industry experience.
  • A High School Diploma (or equivalent) and at least 10 years of industry experience.
