Program Director

Location: Delray Beach, Florida
 Reporting to the Executive Director (ED), the Program Director will be responsible for the operational success of Delray Students First ensuring seamless team management and development, program delivery, and quality control and evaluation. In this newly established role, the Program Director will manage a growing staff of the organization. The Program Director will be the key external face of Delray Students First in the community.
  • Cultivate relationships with existing and new tutors and volunteers with the goal of ensuring that services are smooth and effective
  • Create and steward strong relationships with community partners, nonprofits and other organizations
  • Develop and implement strategies that will maximize the efficiency of our programming and enhance student benefits
  • Plan the delivery of the overall program and its activities in accordance with the mission and the goals of the organization
  • Develop new initiatives to support the strategic direction of the organization
  • Ensure all staff members (tutors, volunteers) receive orientation and appropriate training in accordance with organizational standards
  • Supervise program staff by providing direction, input and feedback
  • Communicate with students, tutors and other stakeholders to gain community support for the program and to solicit input to improve the program 
  • Coordinate the delivery of services among different program activities to increase effectiveness and efficiency
Team Management and Development:
  • Develop and implement a system to evaluate the skill, experience, and professional development needs of all tutors and volunteers
  • Work with tutors to develop objective performance measurements across all sites, to ensure consistent, high-quality evaluation and goal setting for all constituents
  • Instill a sense of accountability among team members by modeling tight oversight of individual and organization performance standards
  • In consultation with the Executive Director, recruit, interview and select well-qualified program staff
  • Implement the human resources policies, procedures and practices of the organization
  • Ensure that personnel files for the program are properly maintained and kept confidential
  • Engage volunteers for appropriate program activities using established volunteer management practices
Program Operational Management:
  • Establish consistent, objective program performance standards of accountability
  • Develop forms and records to document program activities
  • Oversee the collection and maintenance of records on the participants of the program for statistical purposes according to the confidentiality/privacy policy of Delray Students First
  • Write reports on the program for management, board and funders
  • Communicate with funders as outlined in funding agreements if applicable
  • Ensure that the program operates within the approved budget
  • Monitor and approve all budgeted program expenditures
  • Monitor cash flow projections and report actual cash flow and variance to the Executive Director on a regular basis (monthly/bimonthly)
  • Manage all project funds according to established accounting policies and procedures
  • Ensure that all financial records for the program are up to date
  • Identify and evaluate the risks associated with program activities and take appropriate action to control the risks
  • Monitor the program activities on a regular basis and conduct an annual evaluation according to the program evaluation framework
  • Report evaluation findings to the Executive Director and recommend changes to enhance the program, as appropriate
