Data/Voice Specialist - RTH

Our direct client is seeking a Data/Voice Specialist to work in their Roseland, NJ location. This is a 6+ month right to hire opportunity.
 
Job Details:
 
  • The selected candidate will work with the Global Business Technology Solutions (GBTS) Network Operations (Data & Voice) Services team.  Primary responsibilities would be tier1 & Tier 2 technical support for all Data and Voice Networking systems   in a multi-campus environment.   This includes, but not limited to planning, design, Installation, and troubleshooting local and wide area network hardware including routers, firewalls, switches, gateways, DNS servers, DHCP servers, and related hardware, software, and services.  
  • Other responsibilities would include automating day to day processes with a self-service mindset, operationalizing cloud management, monitoring and reporting, alerting, and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). 
  • The ideal candidate should have a bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science or related field; however, candidates with significant prior experience instead of a degree will be considered.  This candidate should be highly motivated and have excellent Leadership and writing and communication skills.
 
 
Responsibilties include but are not limited to:
 
  • Candidate should have a Network Engineering and a Programming Background to work in a Network Operations area.
  • Support the Roseland Network Infrastructure; Datacenter and PBX Room cabling (copper/fiber), Network devices, circuits…
  • Backup Support of Newark team; Network Infrastructure Support, includes patching in the IDFs.
  • Daily review and update of an online Network Inventory database.  All network changes are documented in the database.  This may involve logging into devices to gather inventory details.
  • Ensure network devices are covered by our maintenance contracts.
  • Develop or update online processes and Technical Documentation when necessary.
  • Develop and Maintain toolsets for OCC; handheld devices, protocol analyzers, Tivoli, Apcon switches…
  • Work to create automation to existing processes
  • Develop enhanced network monitoring using Tivoli/Netview
  • 24x7 Roseland On-call support
  • Remote office support; may be required to make road trips…NJ, NY, PA, CT offices.
 
Experience in the following areas required:
 
Hardware and Software:
 
  • 10+ years of experience in data network technologies.  Voice telephony experience a plus.
  • Cisco Routers and Switches, Wireless, WAPS, and WAAS.
  • Cisco Call Managers (voice), Unity voice mail, and CUBE systems
  • Windows XP, Windows 2000 Server, Windows Server 2003, DNS, TCP/IP, SMS and Microsoft's management and troubleshooting tools
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office products, Word, Excel, Visio, Access, Power Point, Outlook, Skype, and Lotus Notes.
  • Familiar with Service Now, ability to create reports, dashboards, ..
 
Monitoring Tools:
 
  • IBM ITNM Netcool
  • Cisco WCS/Company
  • Cisco WAAS
  • APCON Fabric Switches
  • Protocol Analyzers (Wild Packets Sniffer, Wireshark..)
  • Copper/Fiber test sets
  • Netflow
  • VitalNet
   
Experience in the following would be a strong plus:
 
  • Ability to automate via scripting or vendor tooling
  • PowerShell, Perl, Python, KSH/BASH
  • Splunk
  • Understanding of SNMP and MIBs, ITNM/Tivoli monitoring a plus
  • Experience with Cloud Computing/Technology
  • Fluent in Japanese and/or Spanish
