Job Description:

The Executive Director is the key executive leader responsible for the oversight and guidance of financial, administrative, operational and strategic plans of the organization to sustainability. Other key responsibilities include developing and maintaining board governance, fundraising, marketing, and community outreach that produces exceptional mission impact and sustained financial health. The position reports directly to the Board of Directors.

Board Governance:
  • Work with the Board of Directors in policy decisions, fiscal oversight, development goals, and strategic planning by communicating effectively in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Oversee the Board and committee meetings.

Fiscal Oversight and Responsibility:
  • Submit proposed annual budget and monthly financial statements accurately reflect the financial condition of the organization and ensure operations are within the approved budget maximizing resource utilization to maintain a positive financial position.
  • Fundraising development oversight to ensure the company's successful mission.

Strategic Planning and Operations:
  • Collaborate with the Board of Directors and staff to develop the strategic plan supporting the company's mission through programming, development activities and community outreach.
  • Oversight of operations
  • Oversee hiring and retention of appropriate resources to support operations
  • Oversight of employment and administrative policies and procedures
  • Review and approve contracts for services, sign all notes, and all agreements

Public Relations:
  • Maintain positive image as primary spokesperson and work closely with constituents, media, general public, professional, civic and private organizations in the community.
  • Establish collaborative relationships with like-minded and other strategic organizations.
  • Oversee marketing and other communications efforts.

  • Master's Degree
  • Military veteran preferred, not required
  • Ten plus years, senior nonprofit management experience
  • Transparent and high integrity leadership
  • Proven forward-thinker and entrepreneurial skills
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee and lead a global staff
  • Strong public speaking and written communication skills
  • Proven fiscal management overseeing results and processes
  • Hands-on budget management skills, including preparation, analysis, decision-making and reporting
  • Strong organizational abilities including planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation
  • Ability to convey strategic vision and future to staff, board, volunteers, stakeholders and donors
  • Knowledge of fundraising strategies and donor relations unique to nonprofit sector
  • Ability to collaborate with and motivate board members, volunteers and stakeholders
  • Ability to interface and engage diverse donor groups and potential stakeholders
