Director of Development

Job Description:

This position reports to the Executive Director and is responsible for the leadership, direction and management of development activities to support the organization's mission-driven strategic objectives for all development, fundraising and outreach endeavors.

Dues and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Participate in the organization's strategic planning to develop goals and strategies for fundraising
  • Carry out campaigns to maximize revenue and prospect/donor engagement
  • Mange social media content and digital marketing strategies
  • Manage fundraising budget
  • Work with Board Members to obtain major gifts
  • Develop and maintain a donor prospecting portfolio
  • Optimize fundraising opportunities
  • Managing volunteers and development staff
  • Planning and organizing fundraising events
  • Represent the company at community events
  • Lead the company's Development Committee
  • Write and/or edit proposals, grants applications, presentations, summaries, case statements, white papers and other materials
  • Write and prepare effective print and digital communications, including the production of publications, newsletters, magazine stories, direct mail, electronic communications and others

Qualifications:
  • Veteran preferred, not required
  • Yoga practitioner preferred, not required
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • 5 years successful nonprofit fundraising experience
  • Demonstrated fundraising success
  • Confident asking for donor support and closing transactions
  • Demonstrated success in writing effective appeals
  • Demonstrated track record of successful project management
  • Database management and database operations experience
  • Proficient in eTapestry, Donor Perfect or Raiser's Edge
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication and ambassadorial skills
  • Ability to develop a vision and deliver objectives
  • Strong professional and efficient work ethic
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to relate and communicate with all levels of personnel in an organization
  • Technical proficiency (Office, eTapestry, Google Docs, Social Media, etc.)
