Senior Network Engineer - RTH

Position Objective:
  • The Senior Network Engineer, Network Services, will be responsible for the planning, implementation and operational support of the company WAN, LAN and various networking environments. The Network Engineer will be required to perform analytical and technical work in the planning, design, installation and maintenance of the complex, enterprise-wide, data, voice, SDN, cloud and wireless networks. This individual will be responsible for creating and maintaining all technical road maps. The Network Engineer will ensure cohesion between the various technologies and engineering projects. The Network Engineer will also ensure that the network architectural designs are consistent with the vision and roadmaps with cross infrastructure and application platforms.
  • The Network Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that all aspects of telecommunications infrastructure are architecturally sound. The Network Engineer must be an expert in the internetworking field and have a strong knowledge of Cisco switches, routers and F5 load balancers. A thorough working knowledge of LAN/WAN operations is also required. The Network Engineer will act as a subject matter expert as it relates to networking related technologies used in the company Network infrastructure, in addition to possessing a broad knowledge of applications and server-related improvement.
  • The Network Engineer must be able to collaborate and work effectively with other Information Technology teams and resources in delivering required internetworking solutions. The Network Engineer will be required to research existing and emerging technologies that align with business requirements and will need to provide effective solutions based upon extensive professional experience, internal data, industry best practices, knowledge of industry technologies through formal training and self-improvement.
  • The Network Engineer will be required to evaluate and operationally support the current network architecture and develop action plans to make necessary improvements in line with industry best practices and standards; provide input into the overall technology plan for the organization, ensuring specific technologies integrate effectively with other aspects of the technical infrastructure.
  • The Network Engineer will serve as a 3rd level technical resource to the Network Engineering/Operations teams and will also be required to provide guidance as it relates to Service Outages. He/she must be able to provide technical expertise to analyze, troubleshoot and react to technical issues. The ability to run data captures/decodes when necessary is a must.
  • The position will require the creation of status reports, capacity reports, and overall initial trend analysis reports for the enterprise networking environment which will by the Operations teams to provide daily support. The holder of this position will require that they comply with all established processes and procedures and also make recommendations as it relates to life cycle management of network related equipment in the production network.
  • On-call participation in rotating support schedule may be required.

Required Qualifications:
  • Good consultative and communication skills, design skills, analytical ability, judgement, and the ability to work effectively with clients and other Information Technology staff, consultants and vendors
  • Must be able to fulfill all obligations under limited supervision and also be competent to work on their own at the highest level as it relates to all technical phases of the projects

Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent job related experience

Experience:
  • Typically 3+ years experience in data communications fundamentals, telecommunications, network design, implementation and support in state of the art data communication networks or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Cisco CCIE, Cisco CCDA or CCDP certification
  • Required to have a strong understanding of TCP/IP switching technologies (Cisco Nexus 7k's, 5k's, 2k's, 9k's, Catalyst 4k's, VLAN's, STP, RSTP, VPC, VPC+, OTV, VXLAN), Routing technologies (ASR,ISRG2, EIGRP, BGP, redistribution, summarization), IP (IPV4 & IPV6, NAT, ACL'S, DNS, DHCP, WINS), VoIP (SIP, H.323, G.711, AFx, EFx, etc) multicast protocols (PIM SM/DM/SSM) QoS (AFx, EFx) Cisco IOS, general knowledge around NTP, SNMP, NetFlow, CEF, Security Protocols, network management tools including Cisco Prime, Reverbed Suite, QIP, Wireshark. Technical knowledge of carrier technologies including Ethernet, MPLS, CWDM and DWDM
  • Required to have a strong technical knowledge of VoIP/IP telephony systems, interactive voice services, call management systems, strong hands-on knowledge of identifying QoS issues and mitigation strategies. F5 GTM & LTM load balancers or comparative vendor load balancing technologies
  • Experience with data center converged networking based on Cisco Nexus architecture as well as the Nexus 1000v and Vblock
  • Experience with Cisco Unified Wireless deployments, performing site surveys, design tools, heat map generation and hardware configuration
  • Knowledge of structured cable system design and implmentations
