QA Analyst - SQL & APIs

Our client, a Global Leader in Media and Entertainment, is seeking to engage a seasoned QA Analyst to join a team responsible for testing a complex, enterprise applications platform that manages the production and operation of remote events and "in studio shows " across all of the client's broadcast properties. The application is relied on heavily to support the day to day work of all these departments. Enhancements to this application enable the supported departments to keep up with the changing work environment without the need to increase staff or work hours. Current enhancements to the application, due to work force changes in our Operations and Production Departments make it a vital component in successfully implementing those work force updates. This platform is highly data-dependent and is integrated to many other production systems.

Responsibilities:
  • Identify application's higher-risk aspects, set priorities, and determine scope and limitations of tests
  • Review specifications and requirements prior for ambiguity and completeness
  • Determine test approaches and methods - API, integration, functional, system, load, performance tests, etc.
  • Determine test environment requirements (hardware, software, etc.)
  • Determine test tools (record/playback tools, coverage analyzers, test tracking, problem/bug tracking, etc.)
  • Determine test data requirements
  • Organize and execute quarterly System Regression tests
  • Write test cases/plans and facilitate needed reviews/inspections/approvals of test cases
  • Execute tests, evaluate findings and report results
  • Manage bugs and fixes with regression testing
  • Maintain and update test ware through life cycle of the application
  • Support of the Software Development Life Cycle process
  • Ensures the full application of all relevant QA standards to validate application functionality
Required Expertise
  • 6 to 8+ years of experience in structured software/ testing environment
  • Good experience in Web based application testing
  • Great SQL skills – can write their own queries
  • Strong API testing skills'
  • Knowledge and experience with programming language(s), relational databases, and new technology stacks and how they relate to software testing
  • Strong self-management skills
  • Very good understanding of software development life cycle
