Media Systems Applications Support Engineer

Our client, one of the most recognized names in Global Broadcasting, is looking to engage an Application Support Engineer to be responsible for the system management of current and future technologies used to support 24x7x365 Media Environments supporting News, Sports, Entertainment and Stations. In this role, the Applications Support Engineer will maintain broadcast-related IT applications and help to identify new applications and tools to support and improve operations. They will also provide technical assistance for daily operations of mission-critical systems. Candidate must have IT Systems Admin and Digital Media experience as well as project management/support experience in television operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Follow ITIL Service disciplines, covering Incident, Problem and Change Management.
  • Direct involvement in incidents or problems (irrespective of priority) that cause service impact.
  • Works closely with the ETS and other Specialist to ensure a timely, robust and comprehensive service transition process.
  • Taking ownership of Incidents and Problems assigned to Application Support Team.
  • Monitors broadcast critical applications and processes, including monitoring incident tracking system for timely resolution of critical issues.
  • Works with the product owners and support teams to define the requirements for new applications to support the business.
  • Documents changes to existing applications and communicates changes, as well as facilitating training and documentation of new, upgraded or reconfigured applications.
  • Works with vendors to resolve bugs, implements improvements and adds new features as required.
  • Ensures that all implementations are in line with company policies and that proper care is taken to insure the security and reliability of broadcast applications.
  • Support the ongoing daily operations of broadcast and production applications, media editing, archiving, Newsroom Computer systems for television groups - including monitoring, reporting and troubleshooting software and network systems as well as firewall management.
  • Responsible for day-to-day system administration, including management of internal/external systems, networks, Microsoft Active Directory (AD) and system backups and Archives.
 
Experience / Qualifications:
  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in Broadcasting, IT, Technology or Computer Science.
  • Microsoft MCSE, Cisco CCNA, RedHat RHCE, VMWare VCP certifications preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional IT experience, preferably with a media company or other broadcast operational environments.
  • 1-3 years of experience working with relational databases, ideally Microsoft SQL Server 
  • Some Project Management experience - preferably within Agile/Scrum methodology.
  • Experience working with software development teams, as well as Software QA / Testing.
  • Fully versed in infrastructure and networking (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NAT, IPSec VPN, SAN, NAS, etc)
  • Familiarity Client, Dell, Cisco UCS, Windows Server and Linux operating systems with extensive knowledge of Microsoft and 3rd party administrative tools.
  • Ability to explain technical topics to non-technical department managers.
  • In depth ITIL Knowledge.
  • Proactive, customer service oriented self-starter, with significant attention to detail and procedures.
