Technical Advisor (Application/Infrastructure)

PURPOSE of POSITION:

The Technical Advisor will provide direct support to the Application Developer Organization (ADO), ensuring that there is consistent communication and collaborative application development occurring that aligns with infrastructure and security requirements. This position will conduct routine planning and design sessions with the ADO and assist them with infrastructure related items to avoid interruption of development occurring due to infrastrcuture issues or lack of knowledge. The Technical Advisor will provide the ADO recommendations on design changes/enhancements for improved efficiency, systems availability and performance.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. 30%: Participate in the planning, architecture, and design of customer projects
  2. 15%: Develop and maintain the strategic IT plan to address the future needs and plans for enterprise architecture, platforms, technologies, and tools required to sustain a high level of application performance
  3. 20%: Builds strong customer relationships and delivers customer-centric solutions
  4. 20%: Cultivates innovation allowing for new and better ways for the company to be successful
  5. 15%: Collaborates well with cross functional executive-level peers; able to drive decisions when consensus is lacking

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's Degree

Type of Credentials/Licenses: AWS Certified, VCP, RHCA, ITIL

Related Work Experience: 8-10 years

Work experience / skills / abilities required to perform the job effectively.
 
  • Experience with Security-related architecture and design
  • Extensive cloud technology experience. (AWS and/or Azure)
  • At least 5+ years of software related experience are required (release engineering preferred, or software development)
  • Solid understanding of SDLC, Release Engineering, and Automated deployment processes
  • Experience with Jenkins or other Continuous Integration tools
  • Extensive experience with DevOps technologies and methodologies.
  • Experience with Ansible, Chef, Puppet or other Configuration Management tools
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, container solutions and Micro-Services
  • Experience with Open Source technologies.
  • Experience with tiered architectures – e.g. presentation, application, data
  • Experience configuring and tuning virtual private clouds
  • Experience with Active Directory, Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS), SAML, web Single Sign-on (SSO), OAuth and related authentication technologies
  • Transport Layer Security / SSL principles and management
  • Experience with networking principles and technologies (DNS, Load Balancers, Reverse Proxies)
  • Practical experience sizing hardware and storage needs
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Previous consulting experience preferred

This position is an individual contributor and has no supervisory responsibilities. Provides functional expertise through day-to-day work tasks. Works under the supervision of management.
