PURPOSE of POSITION:
The Technical Writer, Senior is responsible for writing/editing documents for Customer Engagement (CE) and Delivery efforts within Ventech Defense and National Security (VDNS) programs and efforts. The Technical Writer, Senior creates and updates material for reports, manuals, briefs, proposals, instruction books, catalogs, and related Technical and administrative publications concerned with work methods and procedures, installation, operation, and maintenance. The Technical Writer, Senior independently analyzes submitted specifications, researches pertinent and related legislation and other appropriate materials, and writes or edits documents (and various revisions to those documents) that comply with established Defense and National Security (VDNS) programs. The Technical Writer, Senior with direction from CE and Delivery Directors analyzes draft documents developed by other areas within Ventech, researches pertinent and related materials, and writes or edits the to ensure compliancy with VDNS Customer's requirements, instructions and standards.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Course of Study/Major: English, Journalism, Scientific discipline, Business, Technology, Information Systems or related field
Type of Credentials/Licenses: Certification in Technical Communications or equivalent
Related Work Experience: 6-8 Years
The work experience / skills / abilities required to perform the job effectively.
-Strong knowledge and experience in how to write in accordance with US Federal Government requirements and standards.
-Strong knowledge base and understanding of Federal regulations governing IT Solutions/Requirements.
-High level of attention to detail and enjoying collaboration.
-Self-motivated with the ability to work alone with no or little direct supervision and at times as an integrated team member.
-Can work effectively in both an office environment and in a remote virtual environment.
-Expert knowledge in Microsoft Office, Adobe Tools and other related word processing tools with strong experience in understanding of the document change/configuration control process.
-Exceptional writing skills and the ability to communicate orally in a highly effective manner are a must.
-Excellent organizational and time management skills and the ability to multi-task are essential prerequisites.
-Must be able to work flexible hours and at times, weekends/extended hours to accommodate collaboration with other team members in various time zones and to meet milestones/deadlines.
-Department of Defense experience preferred, however not required.
-Prior project management experience is a plus.

Scope 6: Individual Contributor
This position is an individual contributor and has no supervisory responsibilities. Provides functional expertise through day-to-day work tasks. Works under the supervision of management.
