The Purchasing Agent procures materials or other goods and services and/or coordinates activities involved with purchasing products and services, such as equipment, tools, parts, supplies for the CMS operation. The Purchasing Agent determines the purchasing needs of the organization and works with the CMS operation to monitor scheduled costs, co-term agreements and take orders from within the organization.

  1. 50%: Responsible for creation and submission of Purchase Requisitions (PRs). Reviews purchase requests for compatibility in a gov't IT environment, within budget requirements. Prepares RFPs/RFQs and other documentation for submission to vendors. Reviews purchasing documents for accuracy, and negotiates pricing with vendors. Responsible for credit card use for purchasing orders.
  2. 20%: Maintains catalog/inventory of standard items in government purchasing system. Creates and disseminates procurement training materials and policies.
  3. 20%: Develops and maintains strong business relationships with approved vendors and manages their performance. Conducts routine supplier business reviews, evaluating supplier performance and compliance.. Ensures that all procurements are compliant with US federal laws and regulations (FAR). Stays abreast on latest government procurement requirements and regulations.
  1. 10%: Assists with other tasks assigned by management, as needed.
HS Graduate or GED
Associates Degree is Desired

Related Work Experience: 4-6 years
  • Previous working experience with US government buying (procurement) including State, County and City.
  • Strong negotiation skills with government buying.
  • Fed Rules and Reg (FAR) processes and procedures.
  • Understanding of internal/external customer's Bone fide need, need to know, and procurement sensitivity.
  • Organization skills, motivated, and able to meet changing deadlines with continuous revolving requirements.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and procurement software.
  • Experience with tracking systems including Deltek Procurement Module, Remedy, or similar experience desired.
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow-desired.
  • Previous Credit Card use and sole responsibility-desired.
  • Asset Hardware Mgmt. familiarity-desired.
