The Database Developer, Senior-Mainframe supports mainframe applications and reporting for the MOCAS contract. The Database Developer, Senior-Mainframe evaluates, designs, codes, optimizes, and modifies databases and database applications. The Database Developer, Senior-Mainframe models databases and develops tables, stored procedures, views, triggers, and other database objects. The Database Developer, Senior-Mainframe tunes databases for optimum performance. The Database Developer, Senior-Mainframe works closely with other Developers to integrate databases with other applications. The Database Developer, Senior-Mainframe may involve interface development to access a database. The Database Developer, Senior-Mainframe may involve a limited amount of database administration. The Database Developer, Senior-Mainframe is highly skilled and proficient in discipline. The Database Developer, Senior-Mainframe conducts complex work important to the organization. The Database Developer, Senior-Mainframe works under minimal supervision with wide latitude for independent

  1. 40%: Provides technical consultation and support in the development of computer applications and programs. Analyzes business requirements, designs and writes technical specifications to design or redesign program solutions. Follows SDLC to meet specifications.
  2. 10%: Enhances applications to reduce operating time and improve efficiency including but not limited to COBOL, Mantis, and Supra. Prepares required documentation, including both program-level and user-level documentation.
  3. 20%: Analyzes existing legacy code (COBOL, JCL, TSO/ISPF) and documents existing as-is processes identifying all inputs, system processes, and outputs. Analyze and documents data requirements and relationships.
  4. 20%: Develop programming specifications to support development team(s). Writes and updates technical documentation such as users manuals, product specifications, and training materials
  5. 10%: Provides impact analysis around program specifications


HS Graduate or GED or Bachelor's Degree

Course of Study/Major: Experience can be substituted for a Bachelor's degree

Type of Credentials/Licenses: NACI or Secret Clearance preferred. 
Clearance level required: Public Trust (NACLC)

Related Work Experience: 6-8 years

Describe below the work experience / skills / abilities required to perform the job effectively.
• Solid background in working with COBOL, JCL and TSO/ISPF
• Working knowledge or proficient in Supra and Mantis
• Librarian experience is preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven ability to learn and understand new business systems and detailed business processes.
• Candidate must be self-motivated, work independently, and yet unction as an integral part of the team.
• Prior knowledge and experience in MOCAS/SDW experience is a plus.
• CompTIA Security+ Certification preferred
Due to the sensitive nature of the contract, candidates must be US citizens.
This position is an individual contributor and has no supervisory responsibilities. Provides functional expertise through day-to-day work tasks. Works under the supervision of management.
