Genesis10 is currently seeking a Senior Data Engineer for a contract lasting through December 2023 with the intention of conversion to direct hire, working with an insurance company in Milwaukee, WI. Open to remote or hybrid candidates.

This role would help augment the existing team. This role will also bring in external perspective and knowledge on Snowflake and its implementation.
This role will help set the architectural and strategic vision for the data platform.
 
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Apply engineering best practices to analyze, design, develop, deploy & support software solutions.
  • Develop software using continuous Deployment and integration practices.
  • Participate in an Agile implementation & maintenance of source control and release procedures.
  • Participate in Code Reviews and feedback to the team
  • Explain technical solutions to technical teams.
  • Contribute to a collaborative work environment in which all team members are respected regardless of their individual differences and are motivated to improve both their individual and team contributions.
  • Identify data quality issues and their root causes. Propose fixes and design data audits.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in IT-related discipline and 5+ years of professional experience.
  • 3+ years of software engineering, debugging and software documentation experience.
  • Code knowledge: Python, SQL.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies/DevOps environment.
  • Prior Asset Management and/or Institutional Investments experience would be a plus.
  • Awareness of database structures, theories, principles, and practices.
  • Awareness of Data Integration Patterns and Tooling including ELT/ETL, EII, Replication, Event Streaming, Virtualization to support batch and real-time data needs.
  • Has or develops understanding of 1-3 subject areas/domains of data.
  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal direction.
  • Proficient programming skills.
What are the must haves for this role?
  • Deep Snowflake expertise, AWS expertise, Kafka, ETL pipelines, Code in SQL and Python.
  • Previous experience with building a data platform is a must.
What are the nice to haves for this role?
  • Experience with traditional CI/CD methodology.
Compensation is $60-75/hr. W2 depending on experience.
