Our client, the world's leading search engine and technology company, is seeking a Network Engineer. This is a 5 month + contract position located in Thornton, CO.

Description:

  • As a designer, you interpret forecasts to set capacity objectives, and then create work instructions for deployment projects.
  • Beyond day-to-day responsibilities, you'll also develop creative approaches to keep operational costs low and improve the efficiency of our ever-growing infrastructure.
  • Our client's complex network generates a constant stream of challenges which require you to continually be innovative with an evolving set of technologies.
  • Keeping the network reliable ensures that our users stay connected with our suite of applications, products and services.

Responsibilities:
  • Build reusable designs and systems that promote scale, reliability, security and efficiency.
  • Develop the design process and customized tools (script, spreadsheet, query, etc.) to create design/deployment packages, or use those tools/standards to create the designs for individual projects.
  • Participate in New Product Introduction projects including testing and documentation activities.
  • Create the design and deployment packages (or global templates of those packages) that specify circuit mapping and equipment installation based on capacity delivery plans.
  • Create, own and maintain NetDeploy standards and documentation.
  • Execution of automated network design tools via CLI and GUI.
  • Validating output.
  • Collaborating with other Network Designers to publish quarterly network plans.
  • Validate design intent vs delivered network using internal tools.

Requirements:
  • Understand how to SSH and run CLI commands.
  • Understanding of Automated circuit design.
  • Bachelor's degree Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3 years of experience with IP networking in a production environment.
  • Experience with major network equipment providers, network routing protocol design and troubleshooting in BGP, OSPF, IS-IS and MPLS.
  • Experience architecting and designing networks.
  • Able to work as a W2 employee of Genesis10 (no Corp-to-Corp).
Desired:
  • Having as many of these specific qualifications is a plus, but transferable skills/experiences may be equally valuable BA/BS degree in a technical discipline.
  • Broad understanding of network theory, technologies, and the operation of optical transport and IP network systems.
  • Expertise in designing, analyzing and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems.
  • Network operations experience and a systematic approach to troubleshooting.
  • Experience with field-based work in POPs, carrier hotels, Data Centers, and Central Office environments.
  • Experience creating rack elevations and other planned/install/as-built documentation.
  • Able to script/program, SQL based queries.
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills.
