Genesis10 is currently seeking an Aftermarket Engineer – Door Parts for a direct hire position, working with a manufacturing and distribution company in the Milwaukee, WI area.

Perform a variety of engineering functions to incorporate High Performance Door (HPD) parts as part of the Client Resource Aftermarket Parts offering. Ensure product integrity, technical accuracy, and the release of door parts, door repair kits and product for distribution. Evaluate competitive door parts and products for their applicability and addition to Client Resource's product lineup. Support existing installed product base.
  • Provide engineering, technical expertise and input in releasing Aftermarket HPD parts to the distribution network. Plan, design, develop and (if needed) document (Autodesk Inventory/AUTOCAD) these products/parts.
  • With the HPD factories, learn and understand the door product offering, technical material and product manuals. With Tech Support, conduct Training on Door parts for the rest of the Client Resource team.
  • Where needed, identify and consolidate existing common door parts with existing Client Resource common parts. Enter appropriate supersedes in the business system to insure there is not duplication of inventory.
  • With Operations, identify size considerations of parts to be stocked and located in Client Resource's warehouse. Work closely with the HPD factories to evaluate and coordinate engineering changes (ECO's) that would impact and affect our aftermarket parts offering to the field. Recommend appropriate supersedes and service kits for field use. Ensure Client' Business System is updated with current door parts (factory) engineering information.
  • Responsible for Aftermarket HPD parts documentation including manuals, spec sheets, and layout drawings for field support.
  • Evaluate competitive door parts for addition to Client Resource's product lineup. Analyze material specifications; create detail drawings sufficient for sourcing and purchasing the parts.
  • Evaluate existing parts offering for possible consolidation and universal solutions across models of doors. Create Aftermarket kits and product upgrade kits to solve field issues.
  • Consult with suppliers in relation to door parts or product design to reduce costs of these items. Evaluate and approve material and specification changes to assist with product and part cost reduction efforts. Participate in resolution of supplier quality issues with Purchasing team.
  • Coordinate engineering activities through our company's Product Engineering team.
  • Use computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering and design tasks. Maintain engineering files, Autodesk Inventor /AUTOCAD drawings and records pertaining to Client Resource per client Engineering practices.
  • Initiate engineering changes where necessary to enhance Client' part and product offering and reduce cost. Assist, where necessary, to investigate problems with non-current replacement parts and initiate solutions.
  • Maintain and acquire new technical skills as necessary to provide adequate engineering support to new and existing products.
 Qualification Requirements: 
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • Education generally equivalent to a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • Five to seven years’ experience in product and design engineering duties.
  • Knowledge of and ability to manipulate computer assisted drafting software. Inventor or AUTOCAD
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to function as a team member and to contribute to group goals.
  • Ability to lead or manage an engineering project.
  • customer service orientation and approach to daily responsibilities.
  • Ability to organize engineering activities and to accomplish tasks under deadline pressure.
  • Ability to use a variety of office equipment including spreadsheet and word processing software.
