Genesis10 is currently seeking a Data Security Engineer (IT Security Consultant) for a contract working with a major insurance client in the Franklin, WI area.

100% remote ok.

This position will also provide other opportunities to work with different technology teams and organizations including enterprise and cyber security. Several technology and delivery will be present in Agile & CI/CD pipeline, automated control enforcement, and other automation technologies.
You will be instrumental in building the strategy and design for data-security solutions that work with replication, data high availability, and disaster recovery.   • Applying established best practices, you will play a pivotal role in build decisions, infrastructure design for larger, more complex systems to achieve strategic objectives in the areas of data security and regulatory compliance.

  • Lead the design, implementation, and configuration of database security architecture, software, and controls.
  • Design and develop database monitoring and reporting tools.
  • Monitor and report on access to sensitive data and respond to data breaches accordingly.
  • Develop and maintain configuration management solutions.
  • Create procedures to help teams make the most out of the available infrastructure.
  • Coordinate activities between product team(s) and risk and security partners
  • Act as liaison for all risk partners to assure compliance with company standards
  • Work closely with risk partners to implement appropriate processes and controls to align with documented policies
  • Document decisions during design and implementation of processes and controls
  • Establish and maintain database security standards for on-premise databases
  • Develop security testing procedures
  • Work with database and application teams to determine best ways to deploy and monitor security controls
  • Report on status of database security
  • Actively participate in relevant corporate programs/initiatives, comply with professional and quality standards, follow corporate policies and procedures
  • Passionate about ensuring databases are configured properly and securely
  • Experience with reporting tools and methods
  • Comfortable working across teams and disciplines
  • Partner with IT security teams for implementation of the IT controls and to remediate the gaps
  • Acts as a subject matter expert (SME) for security tools, applications and processes
  • Design and develop solutions to fulfill security and compliance control requirements
  • Provide documentation and knowledge transfer to operations teams
  • Assist service delivery team to deploy solutions
  • Experience using database technologies like: DB2-LUW, Microsoft SQL Server, Sybase, Oracle, ELK stack
  • Knowledgeable with AWS or Azure cloud environments
  • Experience working as a Linux and Windows system/security administrator
  • Knowledge in database security control in authentication and authorization is required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • 1-3 years of experience as a database administrator or other role with database interaction, experience with multiple database platforms
  • 2-4 years’ experience in Data Security
  • Experience with best practice database security requirements in established control programs (NIST, HITRUST, or equivalent)
  • Knowledge of IT security related controls (SOX, PCI, HIPAA, GDPR, NIST)
  • Ability to investigate, question and interpret internal and external IT security and compliance issue is required.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with leadership teams from different functions
  • Create process documents for operations, maintenance and integrating output from these tools into daily security operations.

  • Understanding of infrastructure, including the tools for implementing infrastructure using automation, infrastructure as code.
  • Ability to drive innovation for system and security improvements, determine architectural and design best practices, find automation opportunities and guide proper use of new features
  • Collaborate with the overall team and other business areas to understand how automation can improve workflow.
  • Gather requirements from IT partners and customers to develop the best automation solutions related to data security
  • Automating processes and operational tasks
  • Experience in technologies such as GitLab, Ansible/Tower, Jenkins, Nexus, Docker, Urban Code
