Genesis10 is seeking a Sr. Guidewire Project Manager for a 4-6 month Contract for Hire opportunity for our client in Austin, TX.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Project Manager in the Information Technology Department is responsible for the successful delivery of projects through a disciplined IT project management process in close collaboration with business partners, team members and various IT functions. The Senior Project Manager will assume end-to-end project accountability to ensure delivery of solutions and services that provide the highest value in support of the business. The Senior Project Manager will serve as a mentor to develop Associate Project Managers and Project Managers while also assisting the Senior Manager of IT Project Management with process improvement initiatives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Maintain strong customer focus while coordinating and collaborating with stakeholders, vendors and IT resources in implementation of key projects using effective verbal and written communication.
Provide project leadership to motivate project team members, foster a positive team environment, and provide direction in ambiguous situations.
Use negotiation skills, influence and creativity to achieve successful project outcomes around scope, schedule, costs/budget, issues/risks, and resources.
Develop upfront estimates of time and resource utilization through organized discovery with stakeholders, IT resources and vendors.
Manage the project budget process and coordinate with IT Managers and vendors to ensure project resources are applied efficiently and effectively.
Arbitrate and resolve conflict within the project when necessary. Understand appropriate paths and methods for escalation.
Exercise attention to detail in building, tracking and monitoring project schedule and artifacts as well as in maintaining key data points within the Agile development tracking software.
Be proactive and exercise initiative in identifying, tracking, and removing impediments to project success. Approach risk identification and mitigation accordingly, including establishing contingency plans and initiating corrective action.
Understand how individual projects affect the program/portfolio and exercise judgement in raising project issues and risks to the program/portfolio level.
Assist organizational change management (OCM) in defining the changes to business processes and procedures that will result from the project. Incorporate business process change estimates and contingencies into the overall project plan.
Identify opportunities for process improvement within the PMO and other areas of the business. Exercise initiative in owning the implementation of process improvements.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong customer focus
Experience proactively identify and own process improvements
Comfortable exercising judgment and using analytical skills in ambiguous situations
Outstanding attention to detail combined with the ability to see the big picture
Clear, effective verbal and written communication skills including the ability to actively listen, problem solve, and communicate effectively with both technical and business users
Broad understanding of IT infrastructure and technology
Ability to learn quickly and adapt to a changing environment; proactive in seeking out information when necessary
Experience monitoring and managing vendor performance
Experience managing requirement solution workshops
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Project or similar tools
Deep understanding of and ability to manage Project and Software Development Life Cycle(s) using both Agile and Waterfall methodologies
Above average organizational, interpersonal & communication skills
Skilled in negotiating and problem-solving with both internal & external stakeholders


Required Education and Experience:
Four-year college degree, preferably in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a technical field
At least 5 years of experience managing IT projects, including end-to-end experience for medium-to- large projects
At least one implementation of Guidewire or working knowledge of Guidewire
Experience managing projects using Agile methodologies and tracking tools
Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
Experience in mentoring or educating other project managers and/or assisting with the implementation of process improvements within a PMO
Experience building successful customer and internal team relationships

Preferred Education and Experience:
PMP certification
CSM and/or PMI-ACP certification
Experience managing projects in two out of the three following IT areas: Applications, Infrastructure, Data Warehousing
Experience building and managing a program
Experience in the property & casualty insurance industry is a plus
