    Genesis10 is seeking a Program Manager-Guidewire for a 6-12 month Contract opportunity for our client in Austin, TX.

    POSITION SUMMARY:
    The Program Manager in the Information Technology Department is responsible for the successful delivery of programs and projects through a disciplined IT project management process in close collaboration with business partners, team members and various IT functions. This individual will assume end-to-end accountability for single or multiple concurrent projects and large programs consisting of multiple projects.

    The Program Manager will be a member of the Governance Team and will coordinate the work of project managers, create and maintain interlocking schedules for projects of a program, track program interdependencies, maintain and present status of the program, track and address risks/issues at the program level, among other duties.

    In addition to program management duties the Program Manager will provide process leadership and support to other Project Managers in structuring projects, consult on the use of project management tools and will lead process improvement initiatives. The program manager will also serve as a mentor to project managers.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manage Client Guidewire Update Program including Policy Center, Claims Center, Billing Center, Portals and Data Warehouse from v. 7 & 8 to v.9
  • Coordinate with Project Managers and other IT business units, as well as vendors
  • Manage program's budget, work on multiple projects, handle conflict/issues, and track progress
  • Present status updates with our Governance Team
  • Maintain strong customer focus while coordinating and collaborating with stakeholders, vendors and IT resources in implementation of key projects using effective verbal and written communication.
  • Manage programs and/or multiple concurrent projects which are not necessarily related or interdependent.
  • Host and present status at Governance Team meetings.
  • Plan and manage out-sourced projects with large components completed by 3rd party vendors.
  • Assist senior management with negotiating service/development contracts.
  • Provide leadership to project managers, foster a positive team environment, and provide direction in ambiguous situations.
  • Use negotiation skills, influence and creativity to achieve successful outcomes around scope, schedule, costs/budget, issues/risks, and resources.
  • Be a resource to project managers in developing upfront estimates of time and resource utilization through organized discovery with stakeholders, IT resources and vendors.
  • Manage the program budget process and coordinate with managers, project managers and vendors to ensure project resources are applied efficiently and effectively.
  • Arbitrate and resolve conflict within the program when necessary. Understand appropriate paths and methods for escalation.
  • Exercise attention to detail in building, tracking and monitoring schedules and artifacts as well as in maintaining key data points within the Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) tool (Rally).
  • Be proactive and exercise initiative in identifying, tracking, and removing impediments to program success. Approach risk identification and mitigation accordingly, including establishing contingency plans and initiating corrective action.
  • Understand how individual projects affect the program/portfolio and exercise judgement in raising issues and risks to the program/portfolio level.
  • Assist organizational change management (OCM) in defining the changes to business processes and procedures that will result from the program. Incorporate business process change estimates and contingencies into the overall plan.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement within the PMO and other areas of the business. Lead the implementation of process improvements.

  • REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Four-year college degree, preferably in Computer Science, Information Systems or related technical field
  • At least 12 years of experience managing IT projects, including end-to-end experience for medium-to-large projects and programs
  • Must have managed minimum of 2 Guidewire implementations
    • Must have worked with v.8 or later
  • Success in managing multiple, large IT projects simultaneously
  • Knows Rally, Jira or similar ALM tools
  • Agile methodology
  • Great communication skills and team player; works well with others
  • Previous QA/Development experience is a plus

  • PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related technical field
  • Fifteen or more years of experience managing medium-to-large IT projects and programs
  • Experience managing insurance projects. Guidewire experience a plus
  • PMP certification
  • CSM and/or PMI-ACP certification
  • Experience managing projects in two out of the three following IT areas: Applications, Infrastructure, Data Warehousing
  • Hands-on experience as a software developer and/or development manager
  • Experience in the property & casualty insurance industry is a plus

  • REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Outstanding attention to detail combined with the ability to see the big picture
  • Clear, effective verbal and written communication skills including the ability to actively listen, problem solve, and communicate effectively with both technical and business users
  • Broad understanding of IT infrastructure and technology
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to a changing environment; proactive in seeking out information when necessary
  • Experience monitoring and managing vendor performance
  • Experience managing requirement solution workshops
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Project or similar tools
  • Deep understanding of and ability to manage Project and Software Development Life Cycle(s) using both Agile and Waterfall methodologies
  • Above average organizational, interpersonal & communication skills
  • Skilled in negotiating and problem-solving with both internal & external stakeholders
